Both due to hit on the 19th - do they mean public releases or closed press beta?

XNE is definitely live for everyone, not so sure about Home.

Tbh I don't want either, I'm happy enough with things as they are now.

A few news 'sites. If you Google something like PS3 Home 19th you'll get some reading material. I also thought it was due Spring 2009, that's why I'm unsure if it's open beta as of Wednesday or closed beta for press or some-such.

awww poor matt lol.

what would you do without us?

XNE is the new xbox dashboard were getting on wednesday. totally redesigned and includes the long awaited party mode where you can get all your mates together in one room and then launch games from there.

Home is what Sony are making for the PS3. Google "second life" and its basically like that.

Ah, see I didnt know the new XBL was called XNE.

Haha, I just realised what Second Life is!

Been reading the news lately?

Some old 20 stone unemployed slob is divorcing his fat ugly ginger minger wife to be with his new lover in America.

He met his current wife on Second Life and cheater on her with his new woman on the game.

All 3 of them are walking (sort of) talking adverts as to what people on the net are really like in these games!

Although lucky for Xbox owners they did, or XNE wouldn't look like it does ;) MS have taken their cue from the 3D environment.
But yeah, Sony have dragged their feet with this launch for a loooong time. I think they've pulled the beta forward to steal some of MS's thunder.

Heh, when MS copy they're 'listening and delivering' - when Sony copy, they're just ripping MS off.
I think it'd been in development for more than a few days before it was announced!
Although it looks like a few day's worth of work in comparison with Home's graphical goodness ;) *Lights touch paper*

they havent coped in anyway though so that doesnt make sense?

NXE is nothing like home. personally i wouldnt use home.

i go on to play games not decorate. NXE is about adding gameshow type games for hundreds of players and adding to the functionality thats there.

and yea im sure it had been in dev for longer than that but the deal is they didnt talk about it till it was ready.

i just read a 2007 article that said home was delayed untill spring 2008.

i thought it was a typo thats why i checked the article date.

now its spring 2009? and theres still time for them to delay it even more.

MS could probably develop the whole thing before they manage to launch it.

Yup, the MS version of Home is what I'm referring to. Home might be massive, MS aren't daft enough to miss out, so they got going a while back. If Home's a flop then MS will just stop development of their version, if it's a hit then they'll hurry it out of the door.

I mentioned in this thread-
"Although lucky for Xbox owners they did, or XNE wouldn't look like it does [Wink] MS have taken their cue from the 3D environment. "

I was saying MS are pinching/have pinched the 3D environment/avatar idea from Sony who showcased it a long time ago.

if MS have copied anyone its nintendo for the avatar system.

they just made it better.

even if they do release a type of home for the xbox thats still only one thing they would of taken from sony.
