maybe, but they then improve on it. Mousepad built in :D

Also how about the 360 now installing games onto the hdd, That must annoy 360 owners? Cos you sure made a big deal of the ps3 doing it ;-)

think youll find the installs are optional. so its an extra feature. not a neccesity. :thumleft:

H3RB it seems MS are the trend setters. what have they copied from the PS?

So why do it then?

Because it makes for a slicker, smoother, quieter gaming experience :thumleft:

You not commenting on the fact the keyboard has a mouse pad built in?

Also ms has copied loads from sony and they have both copied things from nintendo and vise versa. It's called progress. You could say that Lamboghini copied the model T Ford. At the end of the day without Sony's ps1 there would never ever have been an xbox! Sony made consoles "cool" and socially acceptable.

If they didn't improve on eachothers ideas then there would never be a ps4 or xbox 720 etc.

Not sure i agree with that tbh, consoles were booming way before the ps1, wasn't the ps1 originally meant to be an addon for the SNES?

If anybody has made consoles socially acceptable it's far and away nintendo, just look at their adverts, middle class, middle aged celebrities playing the DS and families with 2.4 children all playing the wii together in perfectly laid out living rooms with perfect white teeth

On the 360 install thing, i really don't think it'll make any difference to gameplay, altho it should help with the noise and subsequently with the console overheating

I have to disagree mate, Before the playstation consoles were thought of as kids toys and sony brought them into the mainstream.

Here's some reading material lol

I think that's just natural tho, I had a megadrive and SNES, when i was older i had a PS1, all the gamers got older so the 18-28 market exploded, i doubt there's many people in that age bracket that had never owned a console before, on the other hand i bought my mum a wii for her birthday, and a DS for the xmas before, she'd never played a console in her life, my mates 82 year old granny even had a DS, nintnedo definitely widened the boundaries of who is a gamer, I can't think of any of my mates parents who played the PS1

Excellent, if that's Bluetooth then it's a must have. I've had a couple of add-on keypads in the past (non-official obviously) - one died a premature death and one used a USB dongle and ran on 2.4ghz which messed with my WiFi so I also binned that. I'd imagine Sony's take on it will be far superior, the mousepad is a nice touch, brilliant for impromptu surfing sessions whilst watching PlayTV etc - coming together as a home entertainment system very nicely. Note to add, even my non-official one didn't unbalance the controller, I'd imagine they've thought of that and weighted it accordingly, we'll save the slating and unfounded digs until someone's actually tried one eh?

Edit - It's Bluetooth, not ordinary 2.4 :D *pre-ordered*

What an odd comment, you do realise that's how ALL major companies work, right? Did you know MS bought in pretty much the whole Office suite from other companies and rebranded them? Same goes for Windows Defender and a whole host of other products. Hardly innovative, but good business sense, why invest hundreds of thousands in development when you can literally buy in the technology at a lower price and then use your resources to enhance it.
If it's a good device then of course it will be emulated, if for no other reason than pressure from their user base. I've been to Ford many a time and seen stripped VWs, Vauxhalls and allsorts - even the company I used to work for buy competitors' products in order to reverse engineer them - it's one big cycle that works in the consumer's favour.
So if MS ever release a BluRay drive I assume this will be bad, right? I mean, hardly original is it?

sony copy the xbox nearly word for word.

they didnt even think online gaming would be a big thing but suddenly had to play catch up when Live exploded.

infact, they cant even copy right. even with all the extra dev time they had with PS3, only now have they bought it to nearly the same level.

friends lists, in game xmb, trophies.

fair enough its business and they have to keep up but they havent come up with one original feature. not one.

HDMI....BluRay..?
I must admit, it was a little embarrassing when the 360 launched with HDMI/HDD and Sony hastily bodged up a PS3 Elite with HDD/HDMI and painted it black to try and match it for features. Oh, wait...

When did Sony say they didn't think online gaming would be big?
They kept the cost of the PS2 down by supplying the network adapter separately, they didn't make the same mistake with PS3, also sensibly equipping it with wifi, as you'd expect with anything 'next-gen' - no point making people buy more bolt-ons for basic functionality.
Sony were there long before MS in the console market, you can't say they haven't pioneered anything, they definitely brought consoles to the living rooms more so than any other of the era.
Besides, haven't MS copied Sony's Home concept?

This is getting rather sad IMO.

But one thing I feel I need to say - saving games to the HDD is utterly useless.

I HATE that function on the PS3 and wish I could turn it off, permanently.

It takes bloody ages and as far as I can tell has no benefit what so ever.
And having the HDD built in on the PS3 sucks, be nice if you could remove it and plug it into another PS3 - for instance if you have a game and have spent a while unlocking features then go round a mates with that game. As it stands to do that you then have to wait 47 years for it to install and possibly update and you dont have you're saved features.

Sorry PS3 boys but Sony have got many of the things you think are good, wrong.

And it's those reasons that make me carry on buying games for the 360 instead of the PS3.
