[Mk2] [NA] Power Steering Light

Post by milesy_boy »

Hi guys, got slight problem here...after a few mins of driving, my power steering light comes on, power steering seems to be working 100%, checked codes and I've got an error code 12, also like to point out I've got a dodgy starter motor in case its related??, just not had time to replace it yet as I've got one lying about....! ju

Any ideas, its a Rev1 import.

TIA :thumleft:

the ECU has it's own ecu that gives out error codes though I'm not familiar with those. The starter motor issue I wouldn't have thought affects it, wrong end of car I suppose. Do you have enough fluid in the PAS unit?

just checked the workshop manual. 12 is a short circuit in the Power Steering coil relay circuit <- whatever the heck that is!

Have you tried the ignititon on / off repeatedly fix? Usually the power steering is off if the relay sticks but its worth a try :thumleft:
