[Mk2] [Turbo] how hard is it 2fit a 4 to 1 exhaust manifold??

Post by scoobyslayer »

i love the look of a 4 to 1 manifold, it well within my budgit to buy, but im not sure about fitting costs? is it easy enough 2 fit myself or do i hand it over 2 the more than capalbe hands of rouge motorsports? what power gain can i expect?

i had a jap speed decat pipe fitted, does that change anything about fitting it?

haha its a rev3 3sgte btw

any response is apreichiated :)

Its just a general fitting job only made difficult by the amount of seized nuts and bolts you encounter.

When you buy one I would check the mounting flang faces for straightness using a steel rule or straight edge as my ebay item was miles out, I ended up machining both faces.

Wipe the manifold clean and free of any fingerprints or grease before start up!

apparently them cheap ebay ones crack / split easilly so I would stay away from it and keep the stock one unless your going for over 450bhp (I thikn the stock ones good for upto that or it might of been 500bhp)?

your barely going to notice any benefits on a rev 3, maybe go for one with an uprated turbo or 500 bhp +, standard one works well enough below these power levels (or so i have read)

the one in the link won't fit a rev3 anyway and the xs power brand is like ending up with a plastic cup when you go to the pub and ask for a pint, don't waste your money and the following heartache...

the answer to the original question though is ....

as above, come across seized bolts etc...arpita

if you have worked on cars and are quite confident then its not hard, maybe a 2-4 hour job as long as you have the right equipment :thumleft:

As nice as a blingy stainless manifold is as said above they crack, better off with a nice strong cast manifold.

And they don't stay 'bling' for long either.
