Engine Mounts & Exhaust Rubbers
Hi everyone had my car up on ramps today as I'm getting worried about the weird clicking everytime I accelerate of slow down and I think an engine mount is away or should I say the rubber.
While checking this I noticed that my exhaust rubbers are F***ed! Do you need to get new exhaust brackets or just the rubbers? How much are engine mounts from Mr T and can you even still get them?

Re: Engine Mounts & Exhaust Rubbers
The exhaust mounts are all in one, bracket and rubber.
IIRC they weren't too expensive from MrT.

Engine/torque mounts are pretty damn pricey.
To refresh the torque mounts you can fill them with poly urethane or get some urethane inserts from the states
(not sure if anyone makes them here).
If you chose to fill your mounts some folks choose to drill a few holes in the finished product as solid mounts can be a bit harsh.

i have had the same kind of noise happening ever since i bought my second mr2.
It sounds metalic between slowing down and accelerating

Re: Engine Mounts & Exhaust Rubbers
Yeah.
While under the car today doing the exhaust
( I decided to go to Halfords and get powerflex universal exhaust rubbers and cut them to fit the brackets.
Worked a treat!) I noticed that the driveshaft coming from the gearbox on the drivers side had a little play in it.
Should it have? It's at the bit where the shaft exits the gearbox and joins the other part of the shaft if thats any use?

Re: Engine Mounts & Exhaust Rubbers
Fairly normal for it to have a few mm of play, obviously if it's flapping about in the breeze then you have a problem.

Re: Engine Mounts & Exhaust Rubbers
Yeah I took it to a jap car specialist he said it's either the clutch plate is warped
(it's juddering in 1st aswell) or the flywheel.
Anyway they have a good reputation so it is booked in for the 15th Nov.
It's Called Hypertech and is located in Central Scotland.
Shame cos I wanted to take it to Crail on the 9th but he recommended I didn't.

Re: Engine Mounts & Exhaust Rubbers
first time i have ever heard of a warped flywheel
!!! i would be cautious before paying out lots of money.

It happens, but normally they just get a skim and balance, they are very rarely scrapped
Re: Engine Mounts & Exhaust Rubbers
Mine was warped slightly when i changed my clutch.
It would judder on pull of but now the clutch has worn in its ok.

Re: Engine Mounts & Exhaust Rubbers
Yeah I thought that it would clear when the clutch bedded in but it's got worse.
The garage seem to know there stuff the owner took it fr a drive to see what I meant.

Re: Engine Mounts & Exhaust Rubbers
Just a thought but you can get clutch judder with a scored flywheel or pressure plate.

Re: Engine Mounts & Exhaust Rubbers
Yeah the guy said that the other garage that done my clutch have made an ar$e of summit in the process.
He said he would look at it and quote me a price and if I wanted he would contact the other garage to try and get some knd of refund for the botch job they have done.
