[Mk2] [NA] Alternator for a REV3 G'Ltd? different?

Post by roboliver »

Right i've been doing a bit of research and it seems like there is a differents between n/a and turbo alternators, rev1/rev2 and it seems you have a round plug or oval.......but mine looks more square? defo not round like in some pics i've found, should there be a 3rd type of plug???

Anyone with a rev3 Glt'd thats had alternator probs?

Cheers,

SW20 N/A alternators are about 6mm smaller in diameter than turbo and auto alternators, and are not interchangeable (unless you change the mounting bracket too.)

Both sizes of alternator come with either an oval 3 pin plug or a round 3 pin plug. Never seen any other shape of plug.

Ok, must be a round plug then. Havn't removed it yet as i still need the car drivable (still charges at 2k rpm)

So are all manual n/a's the same for rev1/2/3?

as far as i was aware i've jus had an alternator fitted and came across the same questions. found that only the rev1 had a round socket where as rev2-5 had oval plugs. i have a rev3 and that's definately oval.

for a summary check rogue's site
