new car.. my first mr2 . aw11 t bar

Post by *DeathStar* »

first of all... hi guys :). im james from somerset and after reading these forums i thought its time i regester seeing as i now have that MR Two

WOW. im so happy with this car. sold a 200sx s13 :( but its gone too a good home

but ive got a bargin here. me and my mates face when we saw her we knew it was the one.

its a 1988 aw11 T bar with a private plate ( selling that)

its possibly one of the most original nicest mr2s ive seen

WOW these handle well :D

one owner from new. old boy... super rich ( breeds race horses) and this was his "bit of fun"

unfortunatly he had a heart attack and its been sat in his garage as a car thats this low and has no power steering wasnt really apropriate

the car has had its cam belt done. head gasket, water pump, clutch, front rad and the pipes that goto the engine replaced

o.k sure.. the styling looks like the car has been Drop kicked from the middle of the 1980s but i quite like it !

gonna give it a wax.. but as it stands. it looks lovley anyway! :D

oh and all this. after some haggling and me showing him the cash! for..

£1250

Hi there,

Welcome to IMOC...looks like you have got a great car there.

Head over to the IMOC garage @ http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/garage.php

You can create a entry in our garage and then every post will let users know what car you have...great way to show it off to everyone.

ooh thanks for the tip :).

how easy is it to get hold of tuning bits.

i dont want to play with her too much . as shes such a nice example. [-X

looking at a sutable exhaust that will make the car sound even better when it hits that 4,5k when the valves seem to go crazy

and a induction kit :).

do parts end up on the forums for the aw11?

many thanks

james,

magnex/mongoose would be best bet for exhaust. circa £300 (stainless)
K&N is best bet airfilter wise, don't be tempted by overpriced jap makes

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I looked at this car yesterday and was going to take it to my mates garage for him to check. It was the first MK1 I have looked at and it looked excellent but not having seen any others thought I should get it checked out. Phoned the chap this morning and he said he had sold it. Well done. I should have bought it on the spot. When I looked over it the only problem I could find was some dampness under the carpets.
Congratulations.

Super looking car there Deathstar....

I too bought mine from a millionaire couple...it was the missus plaything. Superclean....it's had some paint in the past...but all under Toyota warranty. I'm keeping mine as mint as poss and totally standard. although I will upgrade to a stainless exhaust when my OE finally dies....
congrats indeed. =D>

Black and don't put 17" wheels on it if you like it to handle well.

Had that on my first MK1, sounds like it could be T-Bar seals. If it's been stored in a garage a lot, the seals will dry out.

Get some silicon lubricant from Halfords (yellow can) and give the seals a treat. Luckily enough, my current MK1 has never leaked, but I still treat the seals evey other month. Never get any dampness in the car and it sits in a garage all the time.
