Mate, if I'm not mistaken, I don't think Neil would go for Ross pistons [-X

I think he's got his eyes on a set of JEs, although if someone could miraculoulsy conjure up an off-the-shelf set of CPs in the standard size, that would be great! :D

Heard too many horror stories about Ross pistons - Nobles used them on the M12 and they used to crack alot. I have already ordered a set of JE's 86mm from Fensport - same as Adrian is running on the Corolla - hopefully they should last a while ;)

Thanks for the link though :)

Neil.

Ok, no probs. Don't know anything about the Mk2 or its engine to be honest.

Do you think you will be ready for the trackday, or is it too early to tell? Tom

Woke up in a cold sweat last night due to the fact my sodding car isn't ready yet! Michael, what is deadline for getting a time in and forms etc.?

As predicted there is a hold up - some studs that can't be got hold of that have to be hand made :x

On the plus side car is going in for it's bodywork refit end of next week...plus a few new trick parts!

God this is tight, engine to be installed in 2 or 3 weeks time. The good thing is it will already be run in so as soon as it's in we're good to go. Hopefully power figures soon.

I believe forms have to be in at the end of this month Toni.

Yup, things are very tight at the mo for a load of people lol ... mine supposed to be at Thor on the 25th of June. Still got no engine in it haha

Got my block scanned yesterday (Thick walled - Thank The Lord!) and the engine is going back together as we speak. I am waiting for my new Tiliton clutch from the states which isnt due till the 20th though, so it wont go back in the car until then. Realistically I should be run-in and mapped by the end of the month. That gives me a few weeks to arrange a track day and get some practice in :)

Good news jonno!

Do we need a bit more clarification on what the story is this year for what the imoc selection routine is :)

Seems like anyone who's got a car that starts should be in the team haha :clown:

Indeed....I am not suspecting to make it now. Despite throwing money at this for 10 months and ringing people up and geeing them along and booking stuff early I can't see it being ready in time. Partly because of various issues cropping up, and partly due to one or two direction changes.

I am crushingly disappointed. Unless there is a miracle of industriousness in the next 3 weeks I've had it.

I daren't even try for it and hope the car is finished by end of July. I can hardly believe it - I suspect people just don't get on with the big jobs when there are lots of little paying jobs going on. 8 months to build an engine? Seems excessive, can't complain too much though as nobody else even wanted to take it on. :?

Sorry to hear that Toni. Know you've been doing everything to get the car up and running. Hey, theres always next year. No point rushing something to have issues pop up later on.

As for my car, fingers crossed it should be starting up soon. Just waiting for digital scales believe it or not ... lol. May even be at the weekend as I've locked JJ in the garage to fix it :D

But who knows!

That's kind of what I was thinking...I guess I could rush it but after all the money I've spent rushing the last (and potentially most important) bits seems a bit daft just to get into a competition. I certainly don't want to be rebuilding that engine after what it's cost! Literally I've been offering people money on top of money (and have paid out £7.5K since Feb!!!) to get it all done! You just can't pay enough it seems!

On the upside I saw the car yesterday - now at Millways getting it's bodywork redone :D It's got a beautifully engineered front scoop now, I am so impressed with the work Gartrac did. Even Millways whom I booked some time ago think it will take until mid-July just for the bodywork though :( So that would give me two weeks to fit the engine, organise the chargecooling (which can't be done until the engine is in), and make sure it's running 100%. It just ain't going to happen.

Good luck on getting yours sorted though, we need a team!

Crikey .... sounds like a lot to do!!

Right .... do we need a new TOTB thread for people who want to / think they can enter. I'll know more after the weekend about my situation.

Where's mitch ... not seen him on here for ages? :-k
