[Mk2] [Generic] leaking brake distributor block thing...

my brake distribution block (the part that is bolted to the master cylinder in the frunk and has loads of pipes going in and out) is leaking out of the plug that screws in to the bottom. this needs sorting to get it through the MOT so I can get the little girl on the road.

is it possible for me to whip the plug out and wrap it in PTFE tape, will this cure the leak do we think?

the MOT guy said it'd be best to just buy a new part but i can't for the life of me find where to get one from or a part number for me to order one from toyota, plus the above idea, if it will work, will be a lot easier/cheaper.

if anyone can spread any light on this i would appriciate it

You,re talking about your brakes mate!! Unless your mot tester works for Noddy and Big Ears I suggest you look in affiliates and get pm,ing!

ha, not that i know off, might have done some work for the whacky racers though

i'll get looking in the trader section and the manual so that i can at least find out what the proper name of the part is, can always get one from toyota then

By distribution block, do you mean the clear plastic cylinder attached to the large black disc? Just wondering, cause that's where the brake pipes come out on mine...

not the best photo i'm afraid but its leaking from the plug that srcews into the very bottom (the rusty coloured bit on the bottom of the nice silver bit)

when i say leaking, it's not pi£$ing out just kind of seeping, so it doesn't squirt out when you press the breaks but obviously, when the pressure is increaed a little bit is forced through the thread (possibly )

i've hopefully got a replacement part sorted now, used but in good condition (no leaks) but if i can't get time to fit it before the MOT re-test (week on monday) then a tempary solution might be needed
