There is a earth wire attached to the thermostat housing yet.

As an aside, are your battery terminals the wrong way round? Only asking as I'm after a replacement battery and my current one's got the earth on the left (nearest the body).

Yes they are, should be

Yep - good spot 
Battery is new and it was just dropped in out the way when I took that picture. When it came to connecting it all up I turned it round and removed the protective covers etc.
I found the cheapest battery was from Toyota directly- £41 + vat ... was nearly double that in Halfords etc.
