[Mk2] [Turbo] rev3+ which headgasket do people use?

Post by steve »

i should have all the bits for my rebuild in the next week or so, just wondering if i should stick with the standard HG :-k

what can the standard rev3+ headgasket handle? which aftermarket gasket do people use?

next year i will be sorting the fueling, ecu and going for either a gt28rs or gt3071r with the aim of 300-350rwhp

cheers

As cometic dont do one for the Rev3, Ive ended up getting an Apexi one. They do a few different thicknesses and seem similar in quality to the cometics. And they aint well overpriced like the HKS ones. Im still waiting to get my car back so cant vouch yet for reliability. Multilayered though with raised bits near the cutouts to ensure seal.

From what I've read, unless you're going serious power (like 450bhp+) you're fine with the standard rev3+ head gasket. If you are going power mad then you'll need one thicker in order to lower the compression ratio.

Same does not apply to rev1 or rev2.

The cometic on my Rev 3 seems to be working pretty good.

The cometic works fine on all Generation of motor, people who say they dont have only read that.

I planned on using the HKS stopper head gasket on mine.

I have never seen anyone offer a Cometic head gasket for the Rev3 onwards.

Nathan have you got any links to sites that offer the Cometic for the Rev3?

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of your car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of your car.

Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you.

Got a Cometic 1.8 mm here :D (mine is rev 1 tho)

Good for the money i say

Modifying a 1 liter is like giving my granny a E. It’s just wrong!!

related to the HG question...i'm hoping to help out a fellow member with a cracked Rev 2 Block.

I have a Rev 3 Block (with pistons, rods and crank)...can the Rev 2 Head WITH a Rev 3 Head Gasket go together?
