[Mk2] [Turbo] New wheels and bumpy roads!

Post by Mert »

hi, I recently changed my standard wheels for some 17" ssr ones. I'm finding on bumpy roads I sometimes get thumping bang like the tires are hitting the inner arches? I stopped the car up and could smell smell some burning plastic :?

Has anyone else had this? I'm on rev3 import with stock springs.

I had the same problem and it was the tyre rubbing against the inside arches(The plastic mudguards),all you can do is either get smaller wheels, take out the guard or modify it like i did :thumleft:

the rears rubbed on mine 9" et35 but the fronts 8" et35 look like they should rub all the time but dont unless it's a huge bump.

Whats the front wheel sizing?

what sort of mod did you do?

the fronts are 7.5 et32. It's weired because sometimes on big bumps I get nothing but then on some odd parts of the road i end up getting the contact.

I don't get any scrubbing going around corners so it's bothering me a little.

Just have a look at the Mudguards and see if you can see any rubbing and if you can just cut that bit out or see if you can move it up.I just cut parts of mine out as i was catching them on full lock. #-o
