SW20 is simply the chassis code for a mk2 MR2
AW11 is a mk1 and ZZ(something!) is for a mk2 (not sure on mk3 stuff, but it's something like that!

There's quite a few ways of checking for imports, namely which model you're looking for. All turbo's are imports (unless UK car with turbo engine fitted nowadays)

Best place for anyone to start i'd say would always be Ben F's guide, it's based on the turbo varient, but makes sense:

476bhp & 415ft lb @ 1.9bar Magic by Ryan!
Gone, but never forgotten
Now with a mk1.5 & a NHB EP3

There is no uk spec turbo mate, only jap ones which were either in GT or GTS spec. Both specs put out the same power. REV 1+2 are 220-225bhp and REV 3 are 240-245bhp i cant quite remember the exact bhp. The only way you can have a UK spec turbo is by transplanting a turbo engine into a Uk car and the power of that will depend on the REV engine used.

N/A UK cars are either 158bhp or 170bhp by the way. Unless you get the 120bhp version.

my advice, would be,take your time.i know what a frustrating pita it can be,trying to find the right one.it took me ages to get my current car, when i moved from na to the darkside,i wasted loads of time and money going to look at so called minters, only to find sheds when i got there.it was worth it in the end, even though i did end up travelling to paignton in devon.one thing i can't stress enough,is that if you are not 100% sure what you are loking at,is to ask for help on here, most of the guys are real diamonds, and will go out of their way to help.so if you see a car you like the look of,don't be afraid of putting up a post,to see if their is a member local to where the car is,who would be prepared to have a look at it for you.paitence is a virtue mate.good luck in your search.and i look forward to reading the post when you show us all your new tubby.paul.

Hi mate :D You know Chris and Matt (Chr15py and Fozzy Rev3) don't you? I work with those guys, so hi and welcome to IMOC.

There's a lovely yellow Rev4 for sale on here for £3200 - absolute bargain. What's your budget anyway?

You're going to have to travel a bit to get the right car, in my opinion. And stay away from Ebay unless the seller is also advertising on IMOC or MR2OC.

Good luck

Welcome, you've come to the right place for advice. As said just check out as many as you can and test drive them so you know what a 'good one' should feel like. Watch out for smoke, knocking noises and shabby repair work. The rev 3 is the one to get as they've come down a lot in price now.
