alternator seized

Post by paulh »

Hi all, does anyone know how much for a new alternator from mister T. Also does anyone know of a good place to get a shed load of welding done in the south tyneside area?
much appreciated

For the alternator you can try TCB performance parts as advertised at the back of the club mag. There's a recent recommendation here:

I had the same problem a couple of weeks back and freed mine using a socket on the nut. Took the whole unit off the car, but you might be able to get a socket on without doing this.

I also had to buy a 22mm socket, as my set didn't go that high, but it was still cheaper than a new alternator. I think Halfords quoted me £160 for a new one, but I can't remember for sure.

Might be worth a try.

Yea, like Max said, I ordered mine on Monday from T.C.B Performance and was here by 11am the following day £84.00. Everything is new except the caseing which is reconditioned. Popped it on and it's perfect, don't forget to get your new belt too, £7 from T.C.B.

You can get it reconditioned yourself for £40 - £70 but like already said it might be beyond this realistically.

Good luck
