R-TEC in St. Albans... AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!

Post by HighwayStar »

Having waited 5 weeks to get my car back from the bodyshop and then having the joy of a pristine car for an entire 4 days I made the mistake of going to this bunch for some new spigot rings and wheel balancing. The car was put in a bay next to huge pallet stacks of god knows what and when I got the car back home I found a scratch on my front bumper which I know for a fact wasn't there before.
I've owned my car over 9yrs and know every inch. Having picked it up only 96 hrs before I'd been over it with a fine tooth comb. I watched the guy reverse it out and he was paying huge attention to the o/s front as it passed the stacks but I didn't think for a moment after all that attention he'd actually hit anything. I noticed the scratch within 1/2 hr of getting it home and starting a wash but their response thus far has been simple denial and a refusal of any liability.
Don't ever use these shirking cowboys.
If i get no joy from their management tomorrow I'm going to be outside all next week with a sign telling all their visiting customers exactly what they can expect. If they wont compensate me for the damage they've done I'll lose them that amount of money and more in bad publicity.
You have been warned.... If you value your car stay away!!!

I have been there...tbh was shocked they couldn't handle cars that were lowered so never went back! Crap job, but I am not sure of your position because you didn't notice until you left.

Hey Toni,
Yeah that is my problem. They've sent me video stills they claim show nothing yet they do show the huge stack of boxes next to the bay they used for my car. I've asked for the video footage of them reversing it out as I'm positive this is when it occurred, the bloke took ages and seemed to be being v cautious of the o/s front (where the scratch is) against something but from outside the garage I couldn't see that side. We'll see what happens. If they continue to behave like they are I plan to take a few days off next week, sit outside their premises and tell every customer going in what to expect of them.
£1k on bodywork and spraying and muppets like this spoil it. The only upside is the scratch really is v v small.
