Kent Car Craft - MOT Time!

Post by MrGazz2 »

As some of you know I went on holiday and left my MR2 with Kent Car Craft to do my MOT. I have faith in them now after the last couple of times my car was seen by Owen and crew so at least knew they were honest and wouldn't mess me about.

I left them with a budget of £400 as anything over that I would struggle to pay. I also explained that my car needed a cambelt kit along with a replacement foglight fitting if possible (due to snapped plastic mounting points making it impossible for me to do without any special tools or materials). I also added the thermostat to the wish list even though I thought it a bit far fetched with my budget.

Halfway through the week they phoned to say it cost £445 in total due to having a full cambelt kit instead of just the belt changed, and they opted to go ahead over my budget due to a failed MOT and thus extra MOT costs. I was a little frustrated at the time but knew it was something that was needed to be done.

On picking up the car, I paid the money and had a good chat about MR2's as usual with Owen before driving off. After actually seeing the breakdown of the bill and talking with Owen about the issues of the initial MOT failure, I could see where the extra costs came from.

When driving away I felt happy to be back in my MR2 after 10 days of not driving it, and that it was in one piece with a new MOT certificate, but I was still a little unhappy about the cost involved as I'm sure anyone would be after paying out that much cash!

Tonight I took the car for a drive out in our local backroads to see if it was running any different than before. I have noticed that the car is performing noticeably better in terms of torque. Or at least, that is the best way I can describe it. When accelerating hard, the car seems to pick up into the power band a lot quicker than previously, with more eagerness to go faster but it does not accelerate faster overall. The car is simply more responsive.

After driving the car I am very happy with the service provided, and I think if my car can feel like it has more power and I have a number of major concerns taken off my mind, then that must be value for money, all doubts are wiped away from when first hearing the cost in total.

Top job Owen and team at Kent Car Craft. This is getting to be quite the regular occurrence now it seems.
