Locating ICE in an MR2.

Post by SwitchBlade »

Hi, I'm currently looking to buy an MR2 but ICE in my car is reasonably important to me. Been looking at pictures of cars I've found online but can't see where people mount their amps. I realise there is already limited space in the cabin for the speakers and subs, and I'll be shoehorning in a 3-way front end and a pair of 8" subs. Unfortunately they come with 3 amps, a pair of EQs and an active crossover.

Are these usually put in the boot and cables run through to the cabin or is there an alternative that I've not spotted on my online browsing for locating these?

Thanks for any help.

The easiest place to mount it all is in the front boot, you can make a MDF cover fcor the spare wheel and mount it all in there.

Its right next to the battery and there are grommets in the bulkhead to let you run the speaker wires and RCAs from the HU.

Hope this helps,

Alot of people bolt them to the rear firewall behind the seats too, front boot is probably easier though (for access to the head unit)

Yeah front boot is the usual place, i've got a din sized EQ, one amp under the passenger seat and the other behind my seat.
Whatever you do, try not to put them in the rear boot cos you will have a nightmare with interferance after running them through the engine bay!
