anyone into pc gaming? Post your specs
Just awaiting my new pc to arrive so i can play crysis! And wondering if anyone else is into pc's and what spec they run???
Re: anyone into pc gaming? Post your specs
I'm into my computer gaming, wouldnt say i'm a gamer though just like certain titles for the PC.
Prefer to play FPS on the PC and love my C&C and other real time strategy games.
Just getting into racing sims, waiting for GTR Evolution next friday as my newly aquired logitech Force GT works with the PC.
I play crysis at 1280x1024 on high settings, no AA.

Re: anyone into pc gaming? Post your specs
Vista scores only goes upto 5.9, must of set you back abit seeing as the HD4870X2 cost
£350 and the Q9550
£220 alone.

PS.
i highly recommend the G15 keyboard if you dont mind having a wired one.
Its simply awesome and with the display you can monitor fraps
(frames per second), temps, GPU/CPU/Memory usage etc.
.

Re: anyone into pc gaming? Post your specs
With the new i7 processors due out soon it's really not the time to be building a new PC IMO
Re: anyone into pc gaming? Post your specs

That's exactly why I'm waiting until the new year and then I'll treat myself to something nice.

Re: anyone into pc gaming? Post your specs
How much are the I7 processors going to be though when they come out, like most new tech they'll be expensive and theres not much software that makes full use of multiple core processors.

Re: anyone into pc gaming? Post your specs
But then the same happened with dual-core processors as well, and you always pay top whack for new stuff.
You either sit around waiting forever and a day for something better to come out and never actually buy anything, or you make the plunge and know that within 3 months
(if that!) it'll be superceded.

Re: anyone into pc gaming? Post your specs
Exactly so just buy what you want now because even the I7 will be out of date soon after its released.
You can wait aslong as you want but something newer and better will always be just around the corner.

With the spec mikee66 is getting it'l be a long time before he needs to upgrade to meet the demands of new software/games.

Re: anyone into pc gaming? Post your specs
lol there's always gonna be a new chip,gpu etc round the corner, Thing is my pc is for gaming and there is no game that it won't play and thats not gonna change when the i7 arctitecture arrives and when you biuld your i7 nehalm based system then in another 6 months there will be a new chip on the way.

Bring on crysis on ulra detail

Re: anyone into pc gaming? Post your specs
Dont expect miracles from the 4870x2 when it comes to crysis, the game is really badly written and doesnt like dual core GPU's much, even the 4870 beats it in tests on medium and high settings at all resolutions.

Very true and i'll be able to fit it my new motherboard, whereas you won't.

Re: anyone into pc gaming? Post your specs
My mobo cost me
£30 so i can live with upgrading it when and if i need to.

PC spec comparing is ultimately just seeing who's got the biggest e-p
enis anyway.

Hey mate didn't see this, As far as i can tell those benchmarks were with earlier drivers.

But remember the new crysis game s out next month and it's a much better coded game andalso not biased toward nvidea cards.

Re: anyone into pc gaming? Post your specs
Yeah its meant to be more friendly for lower spec machines.
The 4870x2 is the king of graphics cards right now, its just crysis is rubbish thats why it doesnt perform so well with this one game.

It looks like crysis doesnt like any dual GPU setups.
2 4850's beats the 4870 everywhere else apart from when it comes to crysis.

My next upgrade will most prob be another 4870 with a sli mobo and bigger PSU.
Wont be for a while though.

Re: anyone into pc gaming? Post your specs
Just built a new rig using the following

*
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 LGA775
'Yorkfield' 2.83GHz 12MB-cache
(1333FSB) Processor
- Retail
* Gainward GeForce GTX 280 1024MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI
(PCI-Express)
- Retail
* Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 TwinX
(2x2GB) Supplied with Airflow Fan
(TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF)
* EVGA nForce 780i SLI nForce 780i
(Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
(132-CK-NF78-A1)
* Akasa AK-P010FG-BK 1000W PowerMax PSU

Updated the gfx drivers to some custom ones yesterday and oc'd the card a little and got an increase of 8-10fps in Crysis.
Gonna play with oc'ing the CPU at the weekend, should be able to get a stable 3.4ghz or so.

Plan to drop in another GTX280 when the prices come down.
