[Mk2] [NA] High tick over

Just got the mr2 back on the road and now it ticks over between 1500-2000 rpm what should it tick over at and how do i go about fixing it.
Its my 1st mr2 so any info would be great cheers.

it should be under 1000rpm at idle

high idle can be caused by a vacuum leak - i had a problem with this (idled @ 1500) and found it to be a leak between the throttle body & inlet plenum, a bead of silicone sealer instead of the paper gasket cured it. Check all your vac' hoses are in good order.

Hi, this is a bit silly, but make sure your throttle isn't sticking. Could be the throttle linkage not fully returning to the idle position. If it hasn't been used for some time these things can seize up a bit.

Is there such a thing as a idle control valve some one said it might be that .

yes there is such thing as an idle control valve, it should be under the throttle body..

also. there is a screw on the side of the throttle which nay need adjusting in slightly. i had this problem on my rev3 turbo

you could also try taking it apart and cleaning the soot out with some solvent (lube the moving parts again after cleaning)
