Don't think it'll fit mate, I've owned a soarer V8 Active, I stripped that engine my self during rebuild and its Huuuuge.

Found out it will mate to a 3SGTE/SGE box.

SO has it been done?

It might fit longitudinally, if you use an Audi box. No chance of transversely though, the Mk2 is about 3-4" too narrow.

Been done into a Mk1 but with a spaceframed rear. The guy who did it was a pretty $hit-hot engineer from what I could tell! The Mk2 is actually narrower in the engine bay apparently so it's pretty much a non-starter in the transverse orientation (unless you went spaceframe on it, even then maybe not).

not without an adapter plate and custom flywheel it wont.I know this because i have a 1uz-fe sitting in my garage bolted to a mk2 turbo box...

Note the adapter plate between box and engine.

they used v8 twin turbos in the race cars, but they chopped into the boot and extened the rear of the car

I thought the engine went in the front for weight balance...

this engine/box combo wont fit in either mk1 or mk2 without extensive modification to the chassis rails and possibly strut towers, but there is actually more room in the mk1 chassis (2 inches wider between the struts)

yeah thats an old picture of when i first mated them together, still got the the engine and box sat in the corner of the garage.

you will also need to ditch the 1uz ignition system, dizzys have to go as they cost you width,so a standalone is also a must.

The easiest way to v8 an mr2 is to use the audi 4.2,its considerably shorter than a 1uz.
