Post by triplecustard »

has anyone investigated if its possible to convert the passenger window to "one touch opperation" , perhaps using bits from a LHD car?

On the page in the link Kevin gave, click on "Auto Up For Drivers Window"

Not to keen on the auto up mod, is there a built in load sensor to stop the window if somethings in the way?

Mine has this safety feature as my alarm has auto closure so because they run through the alarm if somethings in the way they'll stop.

If you look at the way the windows operate, there's no limit switches for up or down, it works on sensing the increase in current in the motors when the window reaches the end of it's travel, doesn't take much to stop it.
The closure modules for alarms work the same way ( at least the one I installed does )
I looked at doing the passengers window and it could be done ............ but the problem is that it would involve installing another switch as there's no way of modifying the the switch on the drivers door to give a auto up function for the passengers window.
You will also need to install another relay for the passengers window as it doesn't have one. With a bit of thought it should be possible to arrange it so that both windows go up and down ( at the same time) with the auto switch on the drivers door, if you could live with that. I reckoned it was too much hassle and I'm happy with auto up/down on the drivers window and both windows closing when I lock the doors using the remote or the key

One of the best Jimi mods on the mk1 in my opinion, push the button once to raise the window & hands back on the wheel, no more holding the switch & steering with one hand until the window is closed, i dont think i could live without it now, Top man Jimi :thumleft: , Jinxy

 The credit for the mod belongs to Jeff Lange of the MR2OC.com  He beat me to it, I only took his method and applied it to a UK car and with his kind permission rewrote the article to suit UK cars.
I totally agree with you Tony, wouldn't want to be without it :thumleft:
