Hi Folks

Got back yesterday from my annual bike trip.

It was a good trip.
Stayed mostly dry apart from a couple of hours on the way back yesterday when water proofs were required.

Was on top of the Applecross on Saturday and boy was it a good view but really really windy and not pleasant on the mororbike when you are getting blasted around.

Stayed at the Viewmount in Skye which is a really nice B
& B and within easy walking distance of the town centre.
Lots of off street parking as well.
We have 3 rooms here for the trip.
Ally and Andy are also booked in here as well but booked separate.

I will sort out the rooms in Skye when i see you all

I am hoping to leave Huntly on the Friday morning at 9am as we are meeting Alan Welsh in Aviemore at around 11.
We can then have some lunch at the top of loch ness
(never know might see the monster)and should be in Skye at early afternoon.

I would suggest that we have evening meals in the Portree Hotel and in a place called Marmalade while in Skye.
I will try to provisionally book some space as we could not get in on Sunday night and when there is a party of around 25 then might be wise.
Both do a good selection of foods fof all tastes.

Trip round Skye on Saturday.

Trip over the Applecross and back to Inverness on the Sunday.
Might have a coffee or snack stop around lunchtime in the Applecross Inn.
This does some really nice food if anyone can manage after the scottish breakfast.
We tried it on the way up

Sunday meal at the Snow Goose which is next to our accomodation sounds good to me.

If anyone need any more info just let me know or if i have forgot anything.

Only 2 weeks and a few days now

Shane

Hi Folks

Just had a phone call tonight from Garry Mcinnes from Inverness who has asked if himself and girlfriend Lisa can join us on the trip.

They will met us in Inverness on the Friday and will take the place of Saj
& Gemma.
Garry originally came from Skye so is a handy chap to have along for back up.

He currently runs a nice red Mk2 turbo and has joined us in the past at our last Aberdeenshire meet.

That is the trip now full again and will see us with 14 cars on the Friday and 16 on the Saturday/Sunday.

Welcome along Garry and look forward to seeing you there.

Just a quick update i have managed to book us all in to a place called Marmalade for a meal on the Friday night when we reach skye.

I booked it for 7.45 so that we all have plenty of time.

Best to book when you have 26 on Friday and 30 on the saturday as the places will just struggle to cope with us otherwise.

Marmalade serves up traditional food and can do a bit of Italian as well.
Nice modern place at a reasonable cost.

I will contact the another place for the Saturday night shortly and get something arranged.
We have 30 people
that night

Hi Allan

The camp site is Torvaig Camp Site, Staffin Road, Portree.

Tel 01478 611849

I know exactly where it is mate.

Just come out of Portree on the Staffin road and its sign posted on the right.

The B
& Bs we are staying in are on the left right across from the site on the Achachork Road so i can point it out.

Its a fine little site.
Toilets etc are clean.

Hope this helps Allan.

I dont think you have to book and in September it gets a bit quieter.

When i was their in the summer there must have been 50 tents+

Hi

I have now booked some food for us at the Portree Hotel in Skye for the Saturday night.
This is right in the main Square in Portree.

Its a nice place and food is good.
They are going to give us a room to ourselves in the Capachinos Dinning room.
The serve traditional food and the selection is good.

I have booked us in for 7.30pm.

It just with a party of 30 its best to book.

If anyone does not wish to attent let me know but i think after speaking to most people in the past that you are happy to go with the flow.

For those of you staying in Inverness on the Sunday then i would suggest that we go back to the Snow Goose where we were last year.
Right next to travel lodge and food is fine and a large selection of beers to round the trip off.
We can book this as we found last year but i will go in in advance once we arrive in Inverness on the Sunday and get something arranged once i know the numbers.

Just a quick note

Fore those staying with Susan
& I on the Thursday and all those coming round for some food and the pre trip party.

We will have the Gazebo again in the Garden but if its to cold as it was a bit last year then we will go inside.

Can some of you bring the deck chairs with you for outside as we might struggle with the numbers.
They are always handy on the trip anyway.
If you have no room then no matter.

SOS 2008 Update

We managed to blag 50+ cans of beer from JAE which Jinxy has and will be bringing it with him for the pre-party
@ Shanes.
Shane, many thanks for organising the meal and restaurant situation, a very good idea, looks like you have every eventuality covered, well done.
Agenda for Wednesday and Thursday is as follows:

Meeting Jinxy/Deb Max/Sasha
@ mine approximately 7pm.

Meeting up with Fred/Doris Carl/Bev
@ the Church Mouse
@ 8pm for evening dinner and a drink.
Reema/Pete, feel free to come along if you up that way.

Leaving home
@ 6.15am and meeting Fred/Doris Carl/Bev
@ 6.45am before meeting Pete/Reema
@ Washington Services
@ 7am.
Need to get away sharp to avoid the dreaded morning rush on the A1.

Meeting Gordon/Alison and probably Frogge/Celina
@ Kinross Services
@ 10.30am, looking to leave here
@ 11am latest.

We should arrive up in Huntley around 3pm in time to freshed up, check into Watt Towers Hotel and the other B
& B's and be available to help with the party set-up.
Then it's over to Shane and Susan for what will probably be
''the best Scotland trip, ever!''

Can't wait, any problems with the pre Scotland agenda give me a ring.
Frogge, please can you confirm where you will be meeting us.

Cheers
Michael
