[Mk2] [Turbo] About to up the boost but want to do it safely

Post by Mike »

I have a Rev2 GT Turbo, its current state of engine tune is;

CT26 Stage 2 Hybrid turbo
Nur Spec exhaust
Magnecor leads
Blitz fuel pump
HKS Induction kit.

Its currently running at 0.9bar as set by the actuator, however according to Fensport the optimum boost pressure for my turbo is 1.2bar without upgrading the injectors etc, according to them this should see 290bhp at the fly. Im going to fit an FCD and wind the boost up to 1.2 but I am concerned that I maybe asking too much of the stock cooling system, injectors and head gasket.

What are your thoughts?

What about water injection? apparently they lower intake temps by as much as 35 degrees.

yer water injections an option but imo it would probally still be best to uprate your cooling the standard intercooler is tiny and heats up really fast. if your running that sort of boost its best to try and keep your temps down as much as possible I went for an xspower intercooler and it is alot cooler now but I wish Id saved up a little more and gone for a charge cooler as people are getting some great power gains throught the colder running temps :(

Its just the cost that puts me off tbh. I tried to get hold of one of the old Berk intercoolers a while back, they were about £450 i think, most IC's I see today seem to be above £700.

from personal experience, 1.2bar is to much for a stock hg.
