[Mk2] [Turbo] Turbo Timer is unlocking my car..... and aerial not extending

Post by timecorp1 »

My turbo timer works fine - apart from the fact that when it switches the engine off it unlocks the doors!

Not sure of the make of the timer but will check tomorrow - car has a Toad alarm.

Also my aerial does not extend when radio is switched on - all the gear looks in good condition and the antenna is connected as I can get strong signal stations like radio 1 no prob. The JVC stereo has been wired in a bodge-job fashion so I guess one wire isn't connected - any ideas how to tell which it is?

My turbo timer does exactly the same thing, and that's with a Toad alarm. Thing is I don't know what it is that locks the doors while I'm driving, is it the alarm or do all MR2's do that?

its the alarm doing that matey, its an anti hi-jack feature... try switching the turbo timer off... run the car for a few mins with the doors locked, then turn the engine off. if it un-locks the car then, it must be a feature on the alarm

It's the alarm.

I have Toad alarm and the anti hi-jack system unlocks the doors for you when you switch the car off. This is because the system locks the doors after a few seconds of having the doors shut and the engine on.

Bottom line. your alarm is not compatible with a turbo timer!
You will have to wait for the timer to finish before you will be able to lock the doors correctly, therefore your turbo timer is useless!

surely this anti-hijack mode can be disabled then? these toad alarms have loads of variable settings don't they?

Only prob I have is that I don't have the pin to access mine!!

Think you can get it reset at a big cost if you call toad directly

nothing in the instructions about disabling the auto-lock feature.....it looks like something that is configured by the installer as you can choose between 0, 2.5 secs and 10 secs before the doors lock automatically.....

The instruction booklet is rubbish, you need the installer manual! Certainly can be found online quite easily for my alarm, which is an Ai606.

Found an installer manual and you need the PIN in order to disable auto locking!

Pin number should be on a sticker on your instruction manual.

Edit: Bear in mind that if you don't have the pin you need to go back to your installer ASAP, as you can't add new fobs if you lose your existing one (or put them through the washing machine like me).
