I never knew you liked my old dear so much Ryan 8-[

First off Massive thanks to Ryan for playing with the laptop allday.....even though he wouldn't let me blow it up at the end  :oldtongue:

Also massive thanks to Nath(use of spanners/jack etc), Mich for organising it and letting me play :) , Xxxx for letting me pinch he's mickey t's for a few runs :thumleft: , Simon for letting me buy he's fuel, and everyone else who helped me on the day :thumleft:  (oh and the sound testing man  112db exactly  )

Well.........Where to start,

Since being on the dyno my car hadn't missed a beat...Untill on the way to york it started to miss ](*,) !
So with this and the temps rising fast in the morning ryan suggested we run it on race fuel for a bit of extra protection,

Only managed a total of 5 runs on the quarter and didnt even get to the handling circuit ](*,)

The runs went,

1) 12.21 121 (race fuel and R888's) 1.7bar??(ryan?)
2) 11.37 120 (race fuel and R888's) 1.7bar??(ryan?) Ran lean to 17.5afr!!
3) 12.77 101 (99ron tescos and shahids M/t's) 1.4bar?
4) 11.55 120 (99ron tescos and shahids M/t's) 1.5bar?
5) 16.61 70 (99ron tescos and shahids M/t's) Ran lean again in 3rd gear! 17-1afr!

Also went to try to do a top speed run on the last one(even though ryan told me i shouldnt and couldnt   ) but with it trying to kill itself i had to give up! ](*,)

Also its a bit hard to keep an eye on my wideband guage whilst launching down the quarter and trying to keep it in a straight line!

Anyways the 11.37 was good enough for 4th overall in the RWD class on the quarter, and with three mr2's in the finals/shootout with all the problems evryone had is a great result imo!

This being my first event with the car and the numerous problems id had throughout the day, fuel/misfires/ running lean/heat/alternator dropping etc, etc, 4th overall and only 0.5sec behind the winner on the 1/4 (nath  ) was a great result for me,

I was so gutted at not being able to take the car into the shootout though, I was even willing to blow it up to run in the shootouts  But ryan wouldnt have it lol, Where as Mich was just laughing at me trying to convince ryan that its only an engine and i can rebuild it again  :clown:

With the problems ironed out, some mickey t's of my own, some race fuel and 2+bar of boost, I think everyone can see the massive potential of the car!......And thats before i think about d/p nitrous 8-[ .....God only knows what we could manage with a few sponsors on-board aswell..........

Was such a hectic day, and great to put faces to names, and wished id had more time to talk to everyone that introduced themselves, andy f, gts chris, Kev, lockys, and everyone else that ive forgotten!

I didnt even get chance to say hello to royash, but will do at the pod sometime :thumleft:

Also thanks again to John(splashnatz) for a push in the morning and the cd's :thumleft:

I dorve it there and drove it back so im happy :thumleft:

No Worries mate :thumleft:

Looking back over your runs, you were only running around 1.4-1.5bar so i would be pleased with your times for the heat.

Imagine 2.5bar and vp import race fuel

Is a shame that the new exhaust did so much damage with flow and heatsoaking the exhaust but with some decent heat matting it will hopefully get the air temps down again.

When i plugged in to check everything out i saw the air temps were 70c so again i would be damn please with your time espically as its only the 2nd time on a drag strip :thumleft:

These events are the most bizzare.

I did well over 200 miles on my car and 2 very hard dyno sessions with no issues at all.

First time round the handling course @ TOTB and the bleamin' dizzy bung makes a run for it!!!!

Even the piddly little handling course they have there puts immense stress on everything, something you just can't simulate on the road. Same with the 1/4 mile - your launching in extraordinary conditions then giving the motor, box and clutch death for circa 10 seconds - which may not sound long but when your pushing components beyond their limits things are bound to happen.

Greeny, you did wise not to run your car in the semi's - i did last year and came away with hell of a lot more damage than i would have had if i had not run the semi. Trouble is, you get consumed by it, alomst possesed - and seem to loose all reasoning!

Its like a drug. Only drugs would be cheaper!

Well done guys. :thumleft:

Just noticed... Is GTSChris's car the ex Tony Baumgartner one? Certainly looks like it from the pics and from the youtube vids...

 I was so gutted to not be able run in the semis, as its a true drag race then and anything can happen!

But your right, there was a really good chance it'd of gone bang, and i reckon id of been more gutted now!

Look at it this way we beat all the supe's

Great weekend lads n lassies. Good to meet all of you that I did. Great to see you winning this year Nathan, as you should have had it last year.

Thanks to your family for all the stuff we used too.

It was truly scorchio!!

I thought the organisers got it a bit wrong with the noise testing etc, but it all came good in the end. :-k

See you all next year maybe?

Graham.
