OC French Day Trip

Post by Scott Barton »

All
There is a little excursion planned across the Channel on the 26th July being organised by the OC. I have been given permission by them to post here to see if any IMOC'ers would like to join them. I am 99% there.
Cost for the trip is paltry £30 return via ferry to Calais.

More details can be found on the OC here.
http://www.mr2oc.co.uk/ForumsPro/viewtopic/t=92625.html

In a nutshell...
Date: Saturday 26th July
Meeting Point: Dover Docks
Meeting Time: 9:55
Channel Crossing: Via P&O Ferry
Departure Time: 10:55 (UK Time) on the Pride of Kent
Return Time: 20:10 (French Time)
Ticket Cost: £30 (+£2 if paying via Credit Card). If booking via telephone, mention the website to get a £5 discount as booking via phone is more expensive than via the website.
Destination: Citi Europe in Coquelles (20 mins drive from French ferry port)

www.poferries.com

Taken from the OC thread.

If you are having problems getting the correct price on the website, either phone customer services or book the crossing with the following instructions (if not, it comes up with a fair of £70-80!!!):

1) click on the "web fair from £25"
2) scroll to the bottom of the page and click the book now link in the "any duration Calais" box.
3) Change the leaving date and time to 10am, 26th July and return as 8pm
4) Submit this and then click on "Show all Sailings for this Day"
5) The pride of Kent is the first viable cheap fair, departing at 10:55 for £15
6) Then click on one of the evening returns (for 20:00) and it totals at £30.

On the Day
There will be a meet up at Dover Docks for all participating OC members before driving onto the Ferry. We need to be registered at the port to collect tickets 30mins before sailing, however the office closes at this time, therefore if you want to be sure of saling, make sure you arrive to enter the Ferry port at 9:55, allowing an hour for booking in. As listed above, I will arrive around 9:30 with a list of names. We will be unable to wait for people who are late simply due to the Ferry port ticket office closing at 10:30.

MR2BIG will be leading the drive on the French side of the journey as he has done this trip many times in the past. We are currently trying to arrange for members of the French owners club to meet us at Citi Europe, to take us on a fun drive through their own country roads.

Here is an itinery that you must have otherwise you will not be able to travel across with your vehicle on the ferry!

- Road legal spare tyre or emergency tyre kit
- Current driving licence
- Warning triangle
- GB sticker
- Day insurance if your policy doesnt allow EU excursions
- Passport
- Ferry tickets (pickup on day at docks but pay in advance)

So if you are up for this get your tickets booked and post your name up here to say that you are coming. At present there are 9 cars confirmed on the OC.
