[Mk2] [Turbo] How long should front droplinks last?

Hi all,

I replaced my front drop links just under a year ago with Sbit ones after clunking from the passenger side. However the same clunkings back and on inspection the passenger side droplink has gone again!

Should droplinks last longer than this or could something else be wrong with the car causing that side to wear quick?

Sorry to say there has been a number of failures of sbits droplinks reported on this site. You could try contacting them to explain and see if they'll replace themselves. If not contact MR T for originals or maybe Fensport for blueprint parts with a discount to premium members.
Hope you get it sorted mate 'cos it's an annoying sound I know.

if still under guarantee they will be replaced but if they keep failing then yes there is something else wrong

SBits drop links have a major design flaw in that they are not sealed at the back as per other aftermarket ones/toyota originals. This allows dirt and moisture into the joint causing premature failure.

See the hoto below of the SBits ones I removed from my car (which cost me £70 and lasted only a few weeks - complete waste of money IMO :-(



Even Halfords cheapo ones for about £10 each are sealed at the back.

Sorry to say i whole heartedly agree no problem with Sbits as such but the drop links are putting it mildly not good -two sets lasted me less than 6 months, i've had cheap toyota imitation drop links on for a year now with no problems. I thought i was the only one who had problems with these. Just go for the spurious sealed units you're better off.

All SBITS droplinks are warrantied.

More than 760 sets have been sold, with around 20 sets returned - a 2% return rate over 4 years.

All replaced without question, regardless of how long in service.

We've only had three or four instances of repeated replacements:

One, with the help of the customer who is a RN engineer, was found to be a poorly reconditioned PAS rack with a smaller than stock turning circle which resulted in the struts trying to exceed the angle of misalignment of the rod ends.

2 were using 25mm ARBs, which resulted in the rod ends being repalced with much uprated items.

That doesnt help the likes of me - who doesnt want to repeatedly do a job knowing that your replacing poor quality parts with more poor quality parts. Replacing the links is one thing but its either wasting peoples time or cauing them expense if they are paying a mechanic to have them replaced.

When something is not "fit for purpose" (which is clearly the case here) a refund should be offered.
