[Mk2] [Generic] 1995+ MR2 Owners...

Post by shabz »

How do you get through your MOTs having decatted?

I've had a 95 turbo for a year and last MOT I managed to fool the tester into believing I didn't need a cat lol...but I can't count on that working every year!

Putting the cat back on every MOT wouldn't be nice either, as its not an easy job

So what do you guys do? or is it only the 1994 and before owners that bother with downpipes?!

Hi there matey
I am told that if you remove your passenger seat the car is tested as a single seater therefore not eligable for a cat test. Not tried it myself yet as only just bought my rev 5 turbo :D . Hope this is some help :thumleft:

For a more effective search if you go to Google and type in, for instance:

MOT Tests Site:www.imoc.co.uk

It will search for those key words just on IMOC.

you don't NEED a cat for MY95+, you just need to come below the specified emissions limit.
it may therefore depend on components & condition of vehicle.
my MY96 passed without a cat.
for example (although i acknowledge these may be far less important than other components condition), i passed with apexi filter, gts chris de-cat & sard exhaust.
