Now my A/C doesn't work!

Post by ENSMR2 »

It was re gassed about a week before I got it about 12 months ago. It was working fine before I took it off road.

It's the first time I've used it since having the car back on the road. It's getting really hot and sitting in traffic with the windows down doesn't help!

Help!!

Enis,

When I had the car it was through winter and I never used the aircon, and I'm not sure if it had gas in it then or not.

I did get it recharged just before you bought it and it worked ok.

I would recommend you take it somewhere who knows what they're doing as it may even have a leak or something, I don't know, but it was definitely all gassed up a day or two before you bought it.

Thats why I thought it was strange :?

It worked fine before september last year.

I'm thinking possibly a leak?

Gonna get it checked out on Wednesday.

In the mean time I'll have to bring a water gun with me in the car and set it on spray! LOL

cant quite tell by ur post, but has the car been undriven for a while? air con systems tend to 'jam' up if not used regularly and lose gas too.

Yes it was off road from November until 3 weeks ago.

If it's a jam how can I fix it?

Don't wanna get screwed over by some A/C man.

Check the condition of the rad behind the front bumper.

If a stone has crashed through it, all the gas would have leaked out.

It may not be that easy to see a leak, but if you take it to any a/c
specialist they will be able to check it.

It wont take long for them to evacuate the system and if necessary,
charge a small amount of gas to pinpoint the leak.

Hi , Had mine regassed just after i bought it, the guy was very good and explained to me some problems.

there is a small amount of oil in the compressor which when used regylarly keeps the compressor seals lubricated and sealed. If you dont use it the seals dry out and you lose compression.

It is a specialist job to play with this item and there are alot of gas and go firms(his words) out there so choose wisely
