Post by john_p_b »

some pictures of my recently picked up mr2. what you see if literaly how i got it and it's been stood the best part of a year due to it's knocky engine. plenty of work to do but all in good time. let me know your thoughts and don't be shy, it's a project so nothing is set in stone anywhere (inc the colour!)

only 1 reply......no body likes the new boy :(

them little orange triangles are pointing the speed out in mph as the speedo is in kmh still, god knows how anyone could drive it in this country for the last 8 years like that! i picked it up about half 7 wednesday night and by 8 i'd ordered a new speedo face in mph for it :D

no real big plans to mod it in any big way to be honest. the paint is shocking so is going to need a respray which is ok as i have a relly that can do it for me and it's already been changed from it's original met gray to the blue that it's in now (any one know what colour it is?) so i wouldn't be scared to change the colour again. fancy a new set of wheels for it when i get it back on the road and actually drive it a bit!

just a case of swap the engine and get it through a mot really for this year :)

No you smell :oldtongue:

My clocks are all in kph, never thought I'd get used to it, but tbh just automatically work it out now, so much so I'm not going to bother changing it.. spend the money on better more shiny things! :D

Looks cool- keen to see what you do with it. How standard is she- I mean suspension, etc?

You might as well stick a turbo in there if you going to all the effort of swapping the engine

sorry i have been trying some new deoderant lately i guess it's not that good :?

the new speedo face was all of £6.45 inc postage from good old ebay so not really broke the bank. just gotta figure out how to get the clocks out now so i can actually fit it!

as far as i can tell it's all pretty standard apart from a steering wheel, gear nob, some metal pedal covers and a intermitantly broken kenwood cd player.

as much as i'd like it to be going vroom ppptttssshh with a turbo in there it'd make it a bit too impractical to use. got one turbo motor sat in the garage now thats become more an ornoment than anything else.

i've seen one forsale on this site looks a very similar colour though maybe a shade darker called zircon blue? it's the closest i've found to it so far.

Have a look in the knowledge base (top of screen on right) there are a few articles on how to remove the speedo.

Car looks like a good project :thumleft:
