What power should I be getting and where do I go next?

Post by Veilside Turbo »

I'm now running at 1 bar boost with a HKS Induction kit and a Fujitsubo RM-01 Exhaust. Has anyone got a similar spec or know what power or 0-60 I should be getting as an estimate?

The reason I ask is because I'm looking at taking it further and I want to compare bhp per £ if you get my meaning.

What mods would you suggest next? I'm going to renew the plugs etc...
Distributor cap
Rotor arm
Plugs
Leads

What would you go for? and whats attainable without changing the engine internally?

Many Thanks to anyone who can help with anything!

Yours is a Rev 2 I think. My rev 2 with similar mods and same boost but with a downpipe and greddy intercooler as well was running just under 220bhp at the hubs. Dyno'd at Thor. Adding a unichip increased this to 240bhp.

Yeah I was told a downpipe would be a good idea. What does 220bhp convert to at the fly?

What downpipe do you recomend? Cheap one would be good! :)

Also where does the Greddy intercooler sit? I like cars with the intercooler on show at the front but this is a bit tricky with an MR2 isn't it?

Thanks for the help,

Don't know what that is at the flywheel, it always causes an argument when you try to convert.

My downpipe is from Rogue systems, but there are quite a few around, if you want cheap you will have to look out for a second hand one.

The intercooler replaces the standard one, its a long way from the engine to the front of the car and back!! Chargecooler set ups generally have their radiator on show (sort of) at the front of the car.

220bhp at the hubs would equate to approximately 260bhp at the flywheel.

And for downpipes, GTSChris does a really good quality one for about £170 I think :?

Firstly I'd say do any maintenance that could do with doing e.g. plugs, rotor, leads, brakes, oil, filter, coolant etc etc.

I'd get a downpipe if not already got one and then try an source a ct20b turbo from a rev 3. Lol .... as it happens my aussie 3 inch dp and ct20b turbo are just coming off the car if your interested :D

Then if you are genuinely interested in bang for buck, I dont care what anyone says, you cant beat nitrous :D A chappy recently dyno'd at Thor with a 50 shot on similar spec to you at over 300 at the hubs. Turbo cars love nitrous.

If your wary of nitrous, then think about an intercooler or engine management instead.
