Always the way mate. Internet is the way to buy games/dvds etc, unless they have special deals in store. :thumleft:

There's no future in hd its true lauren. But it's a bloody cheap way of getting hd quality! It's not like they'll all stop working and the xbox hd drive can be packed away when not in use and reconnected with 1 wire when you want it. And lets be real, i have both but i'd rather pay 4 quid for a film than 18 quid. Before you say 16 quid, it's still 4 times the price! And there's still hd films not on bluray. When they stop selling them they won't stop working all of a sudden, there will be plenty on ebay too.

£14-17 is not the average price Bluray films. FFS. Misinformation tastic. :-:

Go into Zavvi or HMV and most of them are £24.99. Saw them all yesterday. Go check it out.

Play do sell some for £17.......but I'll pay £3.99 for the same HD films for now thanks! :oldtongue:

Even though i've demonstrated that you have overstated the price you still think you have an argument. :-:

Sure you can go and look for expensive places to buy them, but honestly; FTLOG.

I'm not arguing with you on that point at all. What I am annoyed about is Thai completely over-stating the prices of bluray films.

Surely only an idiot would pay £24 when they can pay £17 practically everywhere else?

Of course there are bargains to had for HD DVD, solely for the reason that they are dead in the water.

So you've 'demonstrated' that play.com sell them cheaper. Well done.

Any monkey with half a brain can find things cheaper on the net than in the shops.

Dont tell me how much Bluray films are. I KNOW how much they cost. My point is HD DVDs are now £3.99/4.50 and 'most' Blueray's are still £24.99 in the high streets.

If you argue that they're not, then you're an idiot and you're wrong.

You can pay £17 for a Blueray film, my point is we can buy the same film in HD for £3.99. :thumleft:

Well i'm not being funny but i always buy that kind of thing from play.com because the prices are better. Why would i go to the high street when i can get a better deal elsewhere? So you are buying these HD DVDs for £4 in the high street?

Even so, of course HD DVDs are going to be a bargain as they are obsolete. Unless you watch a lot of high-def films its not really worth buying an HD DVD player is it?

If you have an xbox it is as they're only 20 quid. I wouldn't spend much more than that though.

Last november i paid £180 for my HD player with 7 dvds. Money isnt an issue and i'm now saving even more so it hasnt really cost me anything considering the 7 dvds would of cost me on average £105 and an upscaling dvd player alone would of been £70-80.

Yeah but you'd be bonkers to spend £180 now knowing it'll all dry up sooner rather than later [-X

Then yes, now, no.

Just ordered 6 films from HMV for £28.94 :thumleft:

Add that to Heroes box set and GF is getting me Transformers I'll be occupied for a while lol.

Might even lower my subscription to Love Film for the time being lol.

Bloodly annoying though both HMV and Play have the 2nd Bourne film cheap but the 1st and 3rd are expensive still ](*,)

Still, got all 3 Oceans films for less than £15 :thumleft:

A lot of this sounds somewhat reminiscent of when my friend bought a laserdisc player just before the format went pop. "The disks won't ever stop working and they're as good as DVD" - the novelty of reconnecting the unit soon wore very thin as DVD gathered pace and his collection of films soon became very outdated.
Funny how HD-DVDs @ same cost as Blu-Ray were fine 12 months ago though eh, now HD-DVD has died a death and remainder of stock flogged dead cheap the BluRay cost is suddenly considered extortionate
People can slate BluRay as much as they like, at the end of the day if you want a future-proof format then that's the choice right there, they don't *need* to sell them off in bargain buckets because the format is alive and well.

That's the beauty of the 360 drive. It's only 1 wire to connect. Don't even have to go round the back. Tbh though, i have space to just leave it wired in. I never even saw laser discs in the shops all those years ago. Hd initially took off, there seems to be alot more hd dvd's in circulation. Ebay will help. And the fact is, if i can't find something for a few quid on hd, i'll pick it up on bluray. I have nothing against it. But if i can get the same quality cheaper or stuff not available on hd, i will. We still use vhs here so hd won't be so out dated!

Nope, not at all. I've always said they were both far too expensive, but now you can pick HD DVD up so cheap thats fine with me. I download all my music and films anyway so it costs me nothing! :thumleft:

There's also a huge list of films to be released on HD DVD. :thumleft:

I hope you are not alluding to theft? :-:

Sure there will be some more HD DVDs but they will dry up at some point seeing as there is going to be a finite number of people who were daft enough to plump for HD DVDs.
