My Old T-Bar / D290 EWK / Anyone Own This?

Post by PJ3074 »

I was gutted to sell this back in 2004 had over £1,500'ss worth of modded parts, went like the clappa's...I'll get some photo's up of it when I'm back in Blighty next week.

Would be interested to know if anyone on here has owned it or still has it.

I put a post on the other day for my Dad's MK1a (C48 BKE) he owned from almost new, but sounds like that has gone to MR2 heaven unless its in a shed somewhere awaiting discovery. :thumleft:

Hi Paul,
I was the one who bought it off you, and yes i still have it, completely restored bodywork wise.

Briefly:- after picking it from you (the drive from Kent to Teesside with the knackered clutch was an absolute nightmare), i drove it for about a month after fixing the clutch, and then took it off the road and started stripping the bodywork down.
It was quite depressing uncovering more & more rust (the front bumper bar was virtually dust).
Once stripped it was trailored to Paul Woods in Durham who then carried out the following work:-
Fitted new front wings, lower valences, bumper bar & radiator.
Repaired rear arches with JDG repair panels.
Replaced one sill and repaired the other.
Repaired leading edge of roof.
Repaired A posts.
Then complete respray in the original red.

The first set of photos in the following post by Paul is the car.

I then put the car back together, including refurbed wheels, new seals all round, and new T-bar panels.
Interior wise, i just replaced the centre console (which had a hole if you remember) and the door cards, the rest was pretty much spot on.

Mechanically, i've just replaced the clutch, battery and radiator.

The car's now been back on the road for about two years, and i haven't used it great deal, but with the petrol price rises i've started using it alot more (my normal car's a Impreza Turbo, and over £60 a week just going to work is not nice!).

Next winter's project is to refurb the suspension (Konis already bought) and brakes.

Oh, and i'm just about to replace the Janspeed with a Mongoose, as the Janspeed is just getting too loud, especially with the roof off.

When i get my photos organised i'll send you a CD (are you at the same address).

Cheers,

Daz

Hi Daz

Nice to see my old car finally finished off! You've done a great job with the car, you must be chuffed to bits with it.

Sent you a PM earlier today.
