[Mk2] [Turbo] Rear wheel stud removal

Post by Mad-Mark-UK »

Sorry if this has already been asked but I have tried searching but no luck.

I need to change a rear wheel stud as it has no thread on it to hold the wheel bolt on, is it an easy job to do. can anyone shed some light on it for me?
Many Thanks

Easiest way I found was to take wheel off, take brake caliper off (complete with pad carrier so you can remove disc), remove disc.

Get a big hammer ready, turn the hub so the gap at the back lines up with the stud you want remove, smack the stud with a solid, hard blow and if you are lucky it wil pop out first time).

They are a splined fit into the hub so refit the new stud so the splines line up, then using a wheel nut and some washers "pull" the stud back through ensuring the splines engage correctly. :thumleft:

Hope that gives you an idea.
