First Mk1 - Getting Started

Post by DevaMR2 »

Hello everyone. First post so here goes...

I've had my one and only mk 1 since March of last year. Since then I've replaced the timing belt, had a coolant change and a new radiator fitted (all at Toyota  ). Now the new year is here and I've taken my car out the garage I'm going to give it a real go this year and bring her back to her true glory. Gearbox repairs, wheel arches, bonnet fade re-spray, replace discs/pads etc etc. The car looks great (IMO) as it is, but could look even better. I'm not too bothered about modifications as I personally like cars with that standard "just left the factory" look.

Anyway, I was wondering what everyone else has had done in the past or has planned for their mk1's in the future? Bit of an open question really but there you go.

Cheers!

Hi Paul, yeah I noticed quite a bit of mk1 activity! Not at all, I'd love to hear what you've done to yours.

I see that you are from Chester, I am from Northwich myself, just down the A556!

We have a very active area in the MR2 MK1 Club NW Region - perhaps you would like to come along sometime?

We have all sorts there, for all tastes!

Have a look at this page:

Who's going to point out Pauls web pages first? ;-)

Paul's got me convinced to do the same... I'm on the lookout for a turbo motor and gearbox to fit in the mk1 now... curses!

Welcome aboard.

You bought it last March and are only just posting on imoc? Shame on you ;)

MK1 - nice motor. As the others have said - check out Paul's pages for extreme MK1 motoring, and I'm sure Lauren will be a good help in lobbing it round corners and tracks.

I'm a MK2 man myself, but we're all mates on here who help each other out. (Apart from Shaf who just supplies the women.....)

Welcome to IMOC-UK !

Now you've got a Mk1, you just need a Mk2 to complete the set :D

There's quite an active Mk1 community here as you've found - they're top little cars ..

no no you blow away mate...lol

deva the beauty of this place is that theres always someone here who knows the answer to a mk1 problem which will save you a fortune in the long run, they are pretty specialist little cars and need specialist advice when it comes to sorting them out.You will find that theres an abundance of people offering very cheap if not free parts to help too.
