[Mk2] [Turbo] de-limting etc.....

Post by eddo »

alright guys, how to i tell if im limited or not? ive tried the obvios and given it beans on the local private runways, and sumtimes it feels like a rev limiter is kicking in and the car bogs. but other times it feels like ive cleared 130ish and nothings happened.

as you may have guessed my speedo is dodgy, a kilometor one with uk face which now reads in some random calibration lol

1/what do i need to de-limit the car?

2/ what do i need to sort out the speedo?

thanks :thumleft: :

yup, thats the delimiter / converter you want. Dont get a cheap ebay one as it makes your clocks etc act funny

Also, When it was bogging down when giving it beans could this have been because it might have been hitting the fuel cut? If so you will need a FCD (Fuel Cut Defender) -

alright lads been on the runways again last nite, what happens is when my speedo goes off the clock then i hit the limiter! but the speedo isnt reading in kph its some uncalibrated reading and makes no sense :-k as its got mph clocks on the speedo but doesnt read in mph!

so this means im hitting a speed limiter not at 112 mph but something like 120 - 130?

my cars a rev 1 btw and its already got a FCD, the bogging i felt was the limiter cutting in.

should i just get a standalone speedo and some kind of delimiter?

i'm pretty sure it is the speed limiter your hitting so you will need a delimiter for that, your only issue is finding out how to get the right speedo as the rev1 is cable driven :-k

you may have to put up with 110 on the clocks :(

If yr a REV1 then your 99% going to be cable driven

I am just about to fit my mechanical delimiter

I ordered it online from a place called http://www.svaparts.com/14.html

Order yesterday delivered this morning and at £35 its half the price of those on sale at Thor Racing or eBay.

I`m also going to fit a newer REV1/2 UK Speedometer from a W04 - just the clock dial not the whole unit - this way I will be able to see when I`m over 112mph - when I`m on the runway.

Hi mate i used to have a rev 1 and it's a 2 minute job to sort out. what you need is a mechanincal drive converter either from the site mentioned above or if I can find my old one (£20 to you).

Anyway on top of the gear box you will see a cable going into it, unscrew it and screw the converter into the gearbox. Refit the cable on top of the converter, remove the crappy mph speedo dial face you have and you will have an unlimted rev 1 and a 180 mph dial. Well it will say 180 kph but it actually is 180 mph now. Pretty acurate aswell as i tested with gps.

Sorry i have no pictures but if you need any help or want to buy my converter let me know.

Thanks

ive had a look at an other 2 and its a rev 2 with what looks like an electronic speedo drive, is it an electrical connector directly on the top of the gearbox?
