[Mk2] [NA] Hot brakes

Post by stevemilton »

Hi,
Got into work this morning and found that my nsf wheel was quite a bit hotter than any of the other wheels.
A few weeks ago my dsf brake seized up. This was freed up and has been ok since. I was wondering if it's possible that the dsf has seized up again, but stuck off causing the nsf to do all the work, or if it's more likely that nsf has seized on?
It's also a bit weird that I didn't notice any difference in braking on the journey in. It didn't pull to one side and it seemed to brake normally.
Any ideas?
TIA
Steve.

does sound like a sticky caliper, might be worth giving your pads a quick check as well, make sure they have plenty of life left in them! :thumleft:
Don't think-feel; it is like a finger pointing to the moon, do not concentrate on the finger or you will miss all that heavenly glory........

Does sound just like the sticky caliper is back! Ive had both the front nearside and offside calipers do this to me in the last year. Not sure whether you may be better off getting a refurbed unit fitted rather than keep trying to free them up?

Weirdly enough, I've just driven the 45 miles back from work and they seem fine... ish. Both fronts were quite cool, but the nearside was just that tiny bit hotter. Not sure if that's just the paranoia though. :? No where near as hot as this morning, but then I hardly used them on the way back.
Taken tomorrow morning off, so I'll take a look then.

Sounds like the calliper to me. I've had quite a few replacements over the years.
The last time mine stuck it freed itself by the time I got it to the garage.
