sensor

Hey bud be careful if your using aluminium, I thought the tank and the boss might corrode making it unremovable, so went with brass.

If I get a min I will post up a piccy of what it looks like now.

Thanks m8, also my sparky friend said i need 2 make it out of a ferous metal so i can earth / insulate it better, something about ferous metals reflect incoming resistance lol. So might have to make it out of Tool Steel then hardend it up......

So yea if you could some piccys would be great :thumleft:

okay well the most random thing ever the other day happened, i bought some TRD replica Strut bars of the group buy from eddy, and fitted those the other day piccies below, and well know the Temp Sensor works all the time, but the bleep on my alarm when i unlock lock it doesnt lol :-k

Here is the rear fitted, just removed old strut and fitted this 1.

And here is the front which i also had 2 remove the power steering braket 4 it 2 fit.

i feel 4 you m8, read up on this article m8, most likly find its the surge from the HT leads / Distrubuter cap. U need 2 sheild it somehow with a ferrous metal, and earth it 2 the chasis. should work

Okies!!!! been a while since i worked on my Stat device. But 2day thought id have another go,

Right i removed the water level sensor that wasnt in use, and drilled a hole all the way through, then wired the temp sensor thru there. so was about another 25mm further away from the distributer cap, and well it still cuts out

Im thinking now..... will it matter where i put it, as water is a conducter ?? and any interference will surly travel thru the whole water ????

Temp Display

Post by napalmDaz »

I have one of these in my car and it did the same. AT first I thought it was interference as it tripped off to a blank screen whenever I switched on the HID's. I got a replacement display from the ebay vendor and this one is fine. Seems some are more tolerable than others. The blue one tripped, the red one is fine.

Cheers

this display would not happen to be an LCD unit that fit's a PC? I know mine would trip out very easy and I put it down to the closeness of the dizzy cap / cables to the cabling for the temperature sensor. Basically it got overloaded with interference... that's my theory anyway

OK serious problem now.... im losing like a litre of water from my chargecooler every couple of days...... the other day i lost all my power and the reading on cooler was off the scale. so drove home nice and slow and found 2 be missing well 2.5ltr of water!!! and just had 2 put another 3/4 of a ltr in, major air in the pipes.

I drilled that hole through the water level sesnor thing so im pressuiming that is the problem? waiting on the new gauges 2 arrive so i can knock up a new alloy fitment at work, if its not that though, could water be leaking into the turbo or throttle body / engine and just vapourising???

most likely it's leaking from a join in the pipework. Go round and check them all.

Well no leaks found, was just somehow low on water....

Well anyhows got some funds so im back 2 the Temp Display lol

Got myself a 2 pod guage A pillar :D

2 gauges otw 1 for oil and 1 for the cooler :D

and making a custom piece 2 fit into the water level sesnor, great being a toolmaker  so that'll seal the leak there, and the gauges are 1/8" NPT thread so will have a tapped hole into that 2 fit the sensor in, had 2 buy a 1/8" tap tho :( as its not a british standard that i could rob from work  but it'll seal or something so it wont leak :D

Will get piccies up as soon as i have all the bits, and then its onto tests again
