More Rumours Of Bluray 360's

Post by matt_mr2t »

This would surely make it a dual format console that can play both HD and Bluray films and games?

Think I'd flog the PS3 and current 360 for one of these if thats the case :thumleft:

MS aren't fools, not supporting BluRay would be daft - especially as games become increasingly media-heavy.

I can't imagine they'd force upgrades by only releasing new Xbox's with the internal BluRay drive, I'd guess they'll be releasing units with onboard bluray and an external drive for existing consoles. Not quite sure why you'd care about HD support though, it's a dead format!
Buying a PS3 seems a whole lot easier now, MS running around releasing all these bolts ons to try and keep up with Sony, PS3 was future proof out of the box ;)

I like games, I know which i'd choose.

PLUS - everyone knows PS3s are for sailors, and queeny types. Just the way it is i'm afraid. 360s on the other hand are for real men.

A bit of a typo in your post there - I think you mean cavemen.

In an interview with a top guy from MS a few months ago, he stated that they would not be bringing out a blu-ray add on, as they wanted to invest in the download content of the 360, perhaps having an online movie database for 360 users etc.

No no, not at all. I meant real men.

No typos to see here!

Just off the top of my head, Trasnformers and Heroes. Both HD format only not on Bluray. There are others I would like as well.
I also noticed that in the wake of Toshiba anouncing they were not making HD players the 360 HD add on dropped from £130 to £60 over night. I looked yesterday and all of a sudden, it's back up to £130 again. I've also heard murmers that Toshiba are considering a U-Turn and restarting production of HD players.
There's still a vast back catalogue of HD titles out including lots that arent on Bluray. And they are still bringing them out, it hasnt just stopped.
Although I will admit, new title wise more are coming out on Bluray than HD.

Well, if you got more money than sense
HD-DVD is dead in the water, what's the point? You ain't going to see any more films released for it apart from the handful that's already out there.

Vast back catalogue? :-k
Just had a look on Play.com to have a quick count. And they don't even have an HD-DVD section anymore.

I'd be genuinely surprised if Toshiba did that, they were flailing with HD-DVD anyway - to then hold their hands up and admit defeat, thereby giving BluRay full support and full sentiment backing for a few months, was final nail in HD-DVD's coffin - to try and resurrect that now would be a marketing nightmare. They'd have to be under huge pressure with the offer of some very big backing from some very big names to even contemplate it.
The HD-DVD only titles will find their way over to BluRay once more labels are signed up - if they want to sell units then they have to adapt to the HD-DVDless market, refusing to press BluRay disks would be financial idiocy.

There's more HD DVD's in the HMV next to my work than there are Blurays at present.

They still don't have an 'HD-DVD' section like they do with Blu-Ray :eye:

And the 'Bargain Bin' doesn't count

There's 118 titles and about 15 were 4.99

And as long as there are HD only titles there will be an interest.

Just sods law that two of the things I would like most on Bluray are HD only ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)
Didnt know that when I bought the PS3

You should snap one up, you could probably squeeze it in next to your Betamax video player.
