Called Admiral today and told them I wouldn't go ahead with renewing with them on the 15th. They put me on hold for 10 minutes then came back with a promise that they would match Sky's quote of £300.

So why quote me £370? #-o No thanks, I'll stick with my final answer :thumleft:

Bit dissapointed, sky couldn't offer me an agreed value policy like the one I've got at the moment.

...Might stick with who I'm with -doesn't seem any point in changing at the moment.

I suppose for £300 it isnt a bother but if you were paying say £700 - £800 and paying monthly it would be silly to cancel with admiral. You'd have to pay a whopping great deposit to start the new policy.
Just a note of caution for any one considering doing the same that has a higher premium.

My Sky policy runs out in July, really hoping they can knock it down a bit as it's around £800 at the moment which is a bit high for the use I get out of the car.

Phew, I still have mine.

Quick question regarding that. If I took that out say 2 years ago, do you reduce the value year on year or not?

We look at each case on it's own merits... the prices of most Jap cars have been dropping like stones so the values have been lowered in some cases. The agreed value price should be what it most likely sell for to a like minded car enthusiast... The main problem with these is that some people add the price of the car plus what they have spend on modifications....

I put mine down as £4k 2 years ago and they agreed it.
The next year the policy arrived with the same £4k agreed value clause.
If I then lose it and claim, does that mean they actually are obliged to pay that out?

It's a tricky situation with a modified car. I think it's unlikely I would find a simular condition and specced car for much less than that but sale value surely isnt that high?
I dont really know what they're going for these days.

Another question if you dont mind.
I already have 5 years ncb and will be turning 27 before this years policy expires. Will I be in for much of a reduction in premium?
As I said before, I thought this years was a little steep at £800ish
Do Sky put a large chunk on top for modified cars?

Strange Matt.

Im 23 London, all mods declared , rev3 tbar turbo, 4yrs NCB non protected and paying 900 FC. I have agreed value as well...and this is with sky.

Btw Agreed value only lasts for a year...you have to renew it every year for like 70 quid I think. Annoying though its not like I got time to take pix and print them in colour. arghh

sky will do the same when you come to renew. ive been with sky for 3 years now and everyyear they come back with a stupid high renewal quote i ring round and they match it even though its £500 less than there original quote.

makes me feel like im being bummed but its easier to stick with them and not have to pay deposits and transfer no claims.

i will be paying my renewal next month cash this year round though and after they charged my £50 to transfer my insurance to the mini even though its 4 insurance groups less i deff wont be renewing with them.

If you have an agreed value in place and you are involved in a total loss claim, you will be paid out the full amount, minus policy excess... no arguements.

Without digging out your file, £4k doesn't sound too high, it may go down a bit this year. I had a customer the other day looking for an agreed value of £9600 on his 1999 Celica (not even a GT4). This was totally unrealistic.

When you get to around that sort of level of NCB you will not see much of a reduction (if any) on the renewal. Insurers are pushing up renewal prices across the board.

We have percentage loads for different modifications but we specialise in modified vehicles so these loads should be competitive or better than other insurers...

Cheers

:pale:

I got the "refer" bit :|

Might explain it :D However, those things are NEVER fully representative. My estate is only about 7 years old now, and I've lived here 2 1/2 years. We've never had any problem with crime, let alone car crime so ho hum.

More positive feedback for Sky Insurance.

Reduced their premium to match the lowest quote I got from confused.com.

At the rate it's dropping year after year, by 2012 they'll be paying me instead :thumleft:

Cheers! \:D/
