[Mk2] [Generic] Speedhut dials -how long to deliver?

Post by RST »

(sorry -re-posted in the right section)

Folks,

I would like to order a set of speedhut dial faces for my instrument cluster, I just wondered how long they take to arrive? The delivery terms are on the website but I just wondered any "real time" lead times for folk who've bought them so far.

Reason for asking, I need to open up the dash and I hate opening it up more times than needed (inevitably wears out the clips and raises the likelihood of scratches etc.) so I'd rather do it in a onner -if possible.

Thanks,

Richard

(I can't get on their website at the moment -too much flashy stuff for dial-up to show you the style I'm going for or check their terms again (red background, white numbers, otherwise looks pretty normal). I'll try and update with a pic when I'm in the office this weekend).

Yes my friend, an easy trap apparently. I want to order specific speedhut dials (in the absence of anyone offering an alternative) as they do the look I want (nothing like yours) and was wondering about delivery. Not interested in price, I know it's -cheaper is good but if it's not what you want then cheaper is pointless.

....Thanks anyway.

I ordered some, took around 10 days I think for delivery.

The good:
Good quality.
Look reasonable.
Made to your design (within reason).

The bad:
They're very monochrome, and they said they couldn't do blue digits with red (that lights up) for rev counter etc.
On the non-reverse glow dials, you lose the 'red line' of the rev counter at night. I suggested to them having more 'markers' at that point - they said no.
Mine were ordered with a hole for the security light in the rev counter - but arrived without it. When I complained they said they don't cater for the security light, despite me having emails from them stating they do

Thanks guys,

Actually I tried to put up links to the 2 styles but it just goes back to the design page, not the layout I've selected.

I've just bit the bullet and order a set now. 10 days sounds better than I was expecting. I'll try and do all the dash work at the same time (need to tidy up some wiring for gauges etc).

I don't think I'll bother with the security LED, the Clifford guy put one in my dash panel and I can't seem to prize it out so it'll stay there now (OEM one no longer flashes anyway).

I've just kept it simple -no logos or special additions, they did say by E-Mail before that they could give me a custom red line set-up but maybe not having heard your story.

ive been waiting for a month now. they emailed me that they have been waiting for the mr2 dials to arrive from transit, i said i needed them by this weekend as i have no dials and a show to go to, this was 3 weeks ago.

full story is that i emailed them 2 days before placing my order to ask them to do something that wasnt on their site any more. they dsaid fine no prolem just place the order and pop it in the notes section. a week later i get an email saying theres a 3 week delay!! why the heck couldnt they tell me that when i was first emailing them?!?!

ive heard nothing but good things about them and their quality so aslong as they arrive allgood and as i wanted then il be happy but the customer service part needs improving imo

I'm a bit hacked off with them.

I ordered mine, waited a few weeks then they sent me spam saying that they had a sale and not to miss-out, place my order soon for a discount. WTF: I never signed an "ok" to spam mail me (kind of touchy about that sort of thing). I E-mailed them back asking to remove me from their junk mail list, find out why I hadn't got my order and I asked that seeing as I hadn't received anything -or an order update at least, would I qualify for their discount?

...Fair doo's I did get an E-Mail back, but that was something like a few weeks ago now saying they were out of stock (WEBSITE SOULD HAVE SAID THAT!!!!!), the goods were due to be shipped by the end of that week. No mention of discount (a "no" would have been good enough). In other words, I should have cancelled and re-placed the order when I got the spam!!

...lucky this past fortnight has been hell at work and haven't thought about it much 'till now, but I've been checking the incoming mail at work whenever I get the chance.

...don't order much from non-UK suppliers if I can avoid it at all costs. Good reputaton huh -took a chance and almost wished I didn't place the order now, shouldn't have to chase things like this. Negative feedback coming up from me when I get them I think. So glad to hear I'm not the only one -thanks for replying!!!

(10th May ordered -nothing likely before 23rd June -best. V poor show)

My dials took nearly 7 weeks to turn up, they were waiting for more to be tooled so maybe they hold orders untill they have enough to do in a batch?

They are nice dials tho 8)

I asked for that I suppose.

I got an E-Mail back from them at the weekend. Out of stock of everything, seems to be the norm these days. Place order, submit payment and wait................................

I keep on saying this, if suppliers just let the customer know there's a problem when it arises they won't get annoyed when they have to chase-up what's happening.

Anyway to lock this to close it out?

I gave up with speedhut in the end. Think I ended up with 3 sets of faulty dials -think they sent me 2 replacements (they were all peeling or not overlaid correctly so the limunescent part showed through in parts) -wasn't getting anywhere with refunds so I gave up and chucked the dials in the bin and gave the inverter away to someone who thought they could use it. The quality just wasn't there for me especially after so many attempts -tbh haven't seen a set so far which have been cut or overlaid properly yet but most folk are happy with what they have had from them I guess!
