Stunning, i dont see why people get on their high horse over replicas,
i think they are great when they are done to the standard of the above,
mind you would you buy an mr2 for 16500???

it does look nice, the sound alone though would put it down, from ferrari's point of view anyway...

Am i the only one who still thinks it sits too high???

Shame its not got the original 355 wheels on it :(

Why spend all that money getting the exterior near perfect and then just retrim the toyota interior!! That is such a shame as it gives it away instantly.

Good effort but still not good enough to fool someone IMO

...not good enough to fool someone who knows what to look for, 95% of the population would believe that was a Ferrari.
Not my bag, although it's a nice looking car - bet it leaks like a sieve in the rain though.

There are a few cars that it is acceptable to do a replica of (GT40, Stratos & Cobra), the F355 with an MR2 is not one of them.

The reason is that the 'acceptable' replicas are about much more than just image and combine comparable performance as well (ie right type of engine/layout etc) whereas the Mr2/F355 is more about image than anything else as it has the wrong engine and the engine is not mounted in the same way. So the performance is not going to be an accurate replica in how the car feels.

Also the 'acceptable' replicas use a chassis that is a replica of the original.

It's easy to tell them apart.... nothing makes such a great noise as the F355 does :thumleft:

There is a replica driving around here at times.... the look on the guys face when I walked past one day and said 'Nice MR2' was priceless he then tried claiming it was real so asked him to open the engine lid which he did and asked him where the other half of the engine was lol

On the one hand i can understand WHY they're charging 16.5k as theres a hell of a lot of work in that conversion.. but at the end of the day, whats the point? Its not gonna drive any better, sure you could pose in it- but as soon as you start the thing up- busted!

looks nice but sits too high I think. Plus the heater controls look silly :) I would have thought someone would have made some sort of ferrari looking heater controls to finish these kits off a bit better :)

Exterior wise, that would have fooled me totally, especially with the Spyder conversion.

Interior is a dead give away, although I do think it looks nice apart from that ghastly colour they've painted the central facia.

I love the H-gate around the gear shift. I wonder how easy it would be to get one made up?

Someone's has obviously put a lot of time into that - looks very good.

It needs some decent size brake discs though!

The thing with these 355 replicas is that you just sound like a bit of a xxxx when people ask you about your 'Ferarri' and you say er yeah its actually a replica based on a fifteen year old toyota...

It looks a very good job indeed, certainly one of the best I've seen.

Not for me though but each to their own, appreciate the workmanship :thumleft:

From the outside it would probably fool me if it was moving along (except for the lack of engine note), but the wheels would give it away if stationary, and yeh, the interior is a giveaway but only to MR2 or Ferarri owners.
