[Mk2] [Turbo] rev 3 inlet manifold

Post by mark239 »

has anyone ever tried welding the TB assembly on to the side of the manifold?

will this work ok ? Im worried about the standard setup and airflow to the middle two cylinders.

i might as well do this when Im doing everything else.

i thought about this myself.. i dont see what the problem would be.. just weld it in exactly the same spot as on the front.

was also thinking about shortening the runners by 1/2 .

but i think the best bet would be to make a custom plenum and use the oem runners.

you running a bmic then?

tbh the easiest thing to do is buy an rmr side feed when they eventualy make em for the rev3, i have a centre feed one for my rev1 and its awsome the quality is incredible.

I dont fancy waiting for parts is the problem!

Ive been reading about them being made for maybe 2 years now.

that manifold is a JUN copy simply a different surge tank welded to the rev3 runners.

also you cant use the standard throttle body with that. ask nathan from century motorsport because he uses one.

why waste money on a full race manifold when the stock one is good for 450bhp???

Because I want more than 450hp, and I'm sick of making do with bits when I know I should just have got the proper item in the first place. Number one on this list would be using an adapter plate rather than a proper manifold. I also believe the stock manifold has issues with the middle two cylinders (EDIT - Im on about the inlet mani)

Ive had 2 failed RR sessions due to not being 100% thorough throughout the build process. this time before RR mapping I want to make sure I have ALL angles covered.

ATS is also putting together some intakes. these use the stock runners though

i realy dont see the point in the ats and jun style units as they dont realy solve the problem we have with the manifolds. especialy the ats one as it has rev1 stacks which are poor at high hp. the jun style one i have seen working but if given the choice a good side feed with equal runners would be the pefect setup.

cheers karam

p.s. i do agree though with the full race unit, after 450 the oem is restrictive and causes high egt's. get the duel wastgate setup, looks soo nice

Had a good look at the emspowered site and thought the JUN style inlet looks a good bit of kit.

Are the runners on this new or does it use part of the OEM casting (rev.2 or 3)?

Also not really up on inlet manifold workings. The stock design is supposed to have problems with equal feed in the #2 and #3 runners due to the centre mounted throttle body. If a manifold is of the end feed type does that introdcue equal feed problems in runners #1 and #2 (closest to the TB position)?

Also the Q45 throttle body connection seems to be one hell of a size. How easy is it to get the corresponding throttle body or do you bore out the stock one as far as you can?

And finally, anyone plan to prove the workings of the JUN style one on a dyno? It'd be good to see what sort of gains they provide.

EMSPowered / JUN replica manifold by KU Engineering

Post by Baktasht »

We are now a dealer for KU Engineering so I can definitely do another group buy if there is enough interest. These do NOT use the stock runners. They have tube runners, velocity stacks per runner, a cast aluminum manifold and also have provisions to use the stock ISC valve.
