Thanks again everyone :)

Toni - i didnt measure the weight saving on the sound deadening, but if i were to hazard a guess i would have said 3kgs max!

My main reason was to keep it looking clean and once i got started, i couldnt stop!

Fingers crossed, i'll have the cage, seats, inlet (with NOS ) screamer pipe all done this week.

Ill also push to get the trigger wheel pickups mounted but want to make sure i cover all aspects on this one..

All that is left then will be fabbing up the exhaust - will take a bit of time but with the overall length only being 750mm it shoud be fairly straight forwards.

Then, its off 2 Mr Lyndon for the link to be fitted + mappped... atlast!

Patrick, keep me posted on the driveshaft situation - i'll be in touch over the next week about getting the link done :)

Lol, no, not quite - although yours was very nice ;)

The powder coat on my rocker cover was looking tired.. with the new mountings welded on it was time for a re paint - my colours are black and silver... but the silver rocker cover got to dirty to easily so there was only one other option..

Roll cage was fitted today with the drivers seat fitted too - alterations need to be made to the passenger seat rail then that can be fitted.

Not far off now though - hopefully it should be running within 6weeks :D

well i thought i had better put a post on here as i've been very quiet recently.

Truth is the MR2 has taken a back seat over the last 2 months, other things have taken precidence and there just arent enough hours in the day to work on it.

Most the car is done now, the main thing for me is to get the exhaust fabricated now. I have the silencer and piping, its just fabbing it all up.

Next up is finishing the brackets for the direct ign sensors - this will be fiddly but fairly straight forward.

There are other loose ends to tie up but were not far off now -

Here are some pics of the new NOS setup - i took the manifold home late one night and cracked on with it so please excuse the rubbish next to the manifold in some pics..

It has changed slightly since those pics with the addition of some nice brackets to hold the pulsoids secure - the system is the latest out so am hoping for some good results from it.

I hope to be able to crack on with the car when im back from the states but dont have any hope of gettting it running within the next month - shame really as i had planned on getting it out asap. Its very frustrating with the development work gone into it and the potential just sat there without being able to finish it!

Well it has the capabilities of running 9's - as anyone else who is aiming for this task will agree that you have to have everything going for you on the day to hook it up.

Im working towards it, different suspension setup, weight loss - superior ign system, nitrous, different turbo, different exhaust, different managment system.

With all that im hoping to gain 0.4 second down the 1/4. Its going to be fun thats for sure

Cheers guys.

Locky - have you had yours mapped for higher boost yet?

Your terminals arent so bad - i take it traction was an issue?!?

And here are some pics of the new silencer..

Image

Image

Its one of their latest 2 stage silencers so i can keep the noise levels lower - it has a little mesh at the end which im not so sure about...i may consider removing it if i feel its going to restrict the flow..

Image

Here is a photo just to show the size of the bore - its my hand up there and it looks lost!! Its a 4" bore, which is what the whole system will be and im hoping to get a 5" tail pipe on it for aesthetic purposes coming out the side.

Image

The screamer pipe has been re routed and is coming out like a group C style le mans car - ill add those pics up once i get back to the UK.

Wow,

Nice exhaust system you there!!!

Id love to see ya pull a 9 sec pass :D There is a vid on youtube of "the fastest MR2" in the world, 9.72 quarter mile.

This car here >> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6fB73OAwko

Do you think you will be running around that sort of time, would be great to get the 1/4 mile MR2 record here in the UK, and you have the car to do it :D

I have read this whole thread and the car looks great, congrats, and the NOS system looks sweet!

Gonna be looking forward to seeing some vids of it doing what it does best :thumleft:

Thanks for the comments :D

Well, i will run a 9. Whether it takes another year and more development or whether i drop it on the ground and run a 9 second time up the strip.

I would like to achieve this with the turbo i have now but if i need to go bigger i have a 4094 sat here waiting.

Its all good fun, who knows what the goals will become once i run a 9 - have looked into dropping a supra lump in there but not sure how feasable it is, will look in more depth if the time ever arises. But for now ill just stay focused on the motor thats in there ;)

Well i guess Xxxx as i heard he is running - I think its great for the community, as long as someone does it this year i dont care!!

It would be nice to get there first but my other commitments have pretty much curtailed that.

I really want to see Xxxx, Ian, Andrew, Roy, Larry, anyone else with a decent setup run great times this year and put MR2's properly on the map. The fact that a few are running HKS series is tops, also those in time attack.

I had looked at time attack but again, i havent got the time - but it can wait.

My aim is now to get a couple of runs in before TOTB and go there with a view of winning the RWD outright.... hell i should have won it last year but a cracked block put a stop to it!

Well a very productive week has been had.

Managed to sort my exhaust piping which has dragged out way to much because of the size and the fact that i needed reducers made up. I have everything now bar the 4" to 5" reducer for the tail pipe. Here is the 3" to 4" pipe which will be cut up and made into the exhaust. At the min is stand about a meter tall but will be less than half that length once finished.....

Image

I also decided that i didnt like the 2 stage silencer so got the bits removed and went for a straight through version, its all done but i need to pack it with baffles on monday.

Then the turbo arrived from Owens today, looks great and has a noticable difference on the compressor side.... spot the difference...

Image

It has also had the new surge port, new compressor housing, metal cage bearings (std are plastic!) which will withstand excessive prolonged heat.....

Image

Lastly, when i had a spare 10 mins today i made up a bracket for the cranck position sensor - it fits snug and the sensor sits 0.020" from the wheel - the wheel has been balanced and machined down so is perfectly round.....

Image

Image

Image

And a few pics of the engine bay - note NOS setup and new I/C pipe with Tial BOV...
