Thanks for the quick reply!

As im only 19 i cant insure a turbo..

I thought even insuring a 2.0 N/A and gettin a quote was still good..

I looked into this a while ago.

Generally import NAs (G-Limited) are a little higher to insure than the UK car. But it seems insurance companies are unaware of the 197bhp or just don't care

The price difference between a UK rev3 (173bhp) and a G-Limited rev3 (173bhp) is around the same difference as between a UK rev5 (168bhp) and a G-Limited rev5 (197bhp) :thumleft:

Check with your likely insurers. They might ask for the engine Bhp -which might make a difference. Maybe not, but worth checking.

Is it a factory fitted beams engine on a late g-ltd rev 5? If its a transplant then you're into a different thing - theres a recent thread about transplants and factory fitted engines, although it still seems that no one actually knows the answer, best declare the exact truth to the insurer otherwise your policy may be invalid - and whats the point in that?
Even if its a factory fitted beams (not many about) I'd make sure that the insurance company knows that its not a standard 3sge in there, afterall, they're presumably insuring you on the basis of a 158-173bhp na (depending on revsion), not a 197bhp na.

Your big problem would come if your car got written off, if it is insured as a regular N/A you would only get regular a N/A settlement figure!

That’s assuming they pay out at all, as it is not a Mr2 NA, its a different model!

It is up to you to tell your insurers what car they will be insuring, its never worth assuming that they know what the car is in the hope of saving a few £££.

I insured my MX5 supercharger as a standard Eunos, some bint crashed into it (her fault) and totally destroyed it. As it was registered with my insurers as a standard car, they only paid out as standard, it cost me about £3000

Not worth it mate
