How much wear does a trackday put on tyres?

Just wondering if my tyres are going to last the full day at cadwell on friday. they are toyo t1rs with about 80% tread depth and recently had my car fully aligned.

Anyone have any idea how much they will approximtly wear?

Depends how hard you drive, if your really giving it some you could knacker them in one day no problem.

Cadwell isn't hard on tyres, you'll be fine

As above - tarmac circuits aren't particularly hard on tyres unless you're doing a lot of sliding. Airfields can easily kill a set of tyres in a day

Yep, I destroyed an almost brand new set of Advan Neova LTS tyres in one day at Elvington!

I'm never ever going there again

definately depands on 3 major things:

-curcuit abrasiveness (airfield=bad cadwell-good, angers-great)
-tyre type (soft or harder compounds)
-driving style (drifting, excessive understeer etc)

edit: and tyre pressures / tyre wall wear too

Reckon about 3mm so should be legal by the time you drive home. You could pray for rain as this will reduce wear to about 1mm.

On my MK1 it's usually only around 1mm (yes! have gone on average through over 1 tyre set and that included 8 tracks and 10000 miles in general), and I mean that on a dry track with rather decent hard driving.
Similar wear for Protenzas and Dunlop SP9000. Apparently it's a lot worse on MK2. Still surprised by how much some of you seem to get...

In my personal experience tyre wear varies greatly depending on how much depth of tread you start with.

If you go to a trackday with an absolutely brand new set of tyres (let's say with 8mm of tread) you will see a significant loss of tread depth (maybe 3mm or more). But if you did the same trackday again and drove in exactly the same way you may only see say 2mm of tread loss this time round. When you are getting near to the legal limit it is surprising how many further trackdays the tyre will do

I ended up losing aprox 2-3mm of tread which wernt too bad considering I spent the afternoon going sideways and completely spinning off a few times but I also destroyed my clutch and maybe gearbox although im yet to investigate it
