My new chargecooler

Post by Chr15py »

Hi.

Right, I began to think about the ST205 install before JAE last year when I picked up a ST205 chargecooler for £50...bargain! So I started to collect the other bits needed...pump, rad etc and finally got Rogue to fit it for me.

WOW, what a difference it has made! Rogue did have a few problems...namely every single bolt holding the front bumper on snapped off but they have done a really good job!

Some piccys for you all to look at.

They even took the intercooler, shround and all associated gubbins out.

It fits so well in the engine bay...why didn't Mr-T do it from new?
Image

It is the only external give away - my bumper has always been like that...I want a new one :D
Image

Is loads of room behind the bumper though. They made brakets so it fits perfectly and more importantly, securely!

The front underbrace taken off fellow IMOCers old car - mattcambs for a bargain price...well while it was there, may as well have got it fitted . Amazing what a difference it has made to the feel of the car!

Local police even wanted to have a look...the WPC was weeeeeeeeell fit!

Matt has some under the car pics which I will post up when I get them.

As for differences...it is much, much smoother in the way the power is delivered. I can quite literally feel the extra torque it is producing...so much stronger and that is translated to the road. I have had to adjust the boost on my AVCR as it was making more boost. Also, I'm getting full boost at about 3300 - 3500rpms, almost 500 earlier :D

All in all, I'm really happy with how the car is now...yay!
cheers
Chris

I've just been out driving Chris's car :D :D :D

Awesome. Full boost at 3700rpm - full being 1.2bar, it hits 0.8 at just over 3000rpm. Basically the low/midrange torque is now MONSTROUS, that's the only way I can describe it.

If you want less lag ^^^ is what you want 8)

Matt, full boost is 1.15bar or there abouts (AVCR normally says 1.12 - 1.15), only hit 1.2 when it slightly overboosted at lunch.

I love my car :D

Also, Chris now has my last tubby's chassis setup:

Bilstien track coilovers with custom Eibach springs
Carbing front and rear strut braces
Carbing lower front suspension brace

We can't believe what a difference the lower brace has made to the steering weight. This explains why the steering was sooo heavy on my old car.

Chris now has an extremely sorted chassis, with extremely direct steering.

Looks damn good!
Chris, did your car come from an owner over Northampton way?
I thought I spotted your car once in late 2006 that's all.

Cheers mate.
I bought it from NVI in northampton in Jan 2007 but he'd had it since mid 2006. I think he used to take them to Rogue for services/check overs. Maybe that's where you've seen it?
