[Mk2] [NA] What colour wheels?

Hopefully going to refurb my standard 15" rev2 alloys soon, once the weather gets a little warmer to aid the drying process.
I know what i'm doing prep wise, and intend doing a good job, but i'm toying with the idea of painting them white or a darker gun-metal silver. As i think it would go along with my super-red.

Just thought i'd post, and see if anyone out there has wanted to be different and go something other than standard spray paint silver.

Any pics of white wheels on red mr2's would be great. Anyone painted their standard 15"s white?

Any advice, opinions welcome.

White or gunmetal should work well, white may work better with a red car

What about a polished (mirror) finish? There are a few ways you can polish them yourself but spraying will be easier...

mmmm, polished finish maybe a bit too bling for me, but as a matter of interest how would i go about it myself?

It's going to be white or gun-metal silver i rekon. If anyone's got any pics to help me make up my mind between the two.

very nice, that pic has tilted me towards the same idea. I think even with my red roof the affect would still be good.
Did you do prep/paint those yourself? What materials did you use and where did you get the paint.
I hope mine turn out as nice.

these were already painted when i bought them , but i did have to respray one of the wheels the other day as the laquer was peeling off , the colour is ford graphite grey and i just got it from halfords , very easy to do . for the perfect finish , use alot of wet and dry between stages .and then dont be too afraid of using alot of laquer. hope this helps-

you could always buy my car and then you would have to go through all this trouble !!!

I used Halfords Ford Graphite grey on my race car. It's pretty subtle and could defo work well on some stock rev3 wheels.

I'm on my 4th MR2 now and this ones starburst red with black wheels (standard 15"s). I wasn't too sure when I bought it but it grows on you.

No pics as yet though.

Down to personal preferance i guess, but black somehow for me doesn't look right. Need to be able to distinguish the wheels from tyres easier than that. I think i'm still glued to the idea of that ford grey colour.
Thats for the pics though guys, very helpfull. Seeing examples in the flesh is better than trying to imagine them.

weather is getting better, might tackle the refurb this week. Will post some before and after pics soon. Thanks again ya all.

Well, personally i think you've got the right colour wheels already. I can't picture any other colour that will look as good as the silver you've got.
For me, just refurb the wheels and stay with that colour, just add plenty of laquer to give it the glossy look.
I do like black aftermarket wheel,preferably with chrome rims, but as for in standard 15" form, i'm not a big fan, and i don't think it will suit your 2 in my opinion.
i think what it all boils down to is personal preferance. Go with what colour you think good and could live with.
Nice car you've got there by the way,looks clean, and love the black roof.

These diamond cut wheels were fitted to later versions and I think if I were staying with 15s I'd be tempted to get mine diamond cut the same.
