[Mk2] [Turbo] MOT Failure due to noise !!

Post by grayboy »

hey all

I took my car in for MOT today , and when i went back to pick it up i was met with a failure notice ....

the car had failed on .... " rearexhaust system noise is clearly in exess of that emitted by a similar vehicle fitted with a standard silencer in average condition "............

i didnt know there was a limit on the noise level ?? or was i wrong ??

they also failed it on emissions coz they gave me a cat test on a 1992 import !!!!! this matter is currently under discussion , thanks to the vosa print out.

once they give in over the emissions, if they still insist on failing it on just the noise take it somewhere else

They usually use it with the emissions as previously stated.
I however have never had a problem with noise levels at three different testing stations.
Get the emissions sorted, try the re-test, if it doesn't work, find a friendly MOT place that is less anal about these things.
I am going to live forever, or die trying!
