F800 EAM for Sale

Post by dgh.mr2 »

F800 EAM For Sale - ideal race car project for Nippon Challenge, Toyota Sprint series, 750 MC etc.

For sale after the disaster of buying and selling my previous car at a £2000 loss + new costs of a refurb, just completed by KPM at c. £3000.

Fibreglass bodied MR2 Mark 1 road legal race car - as used sucessfully by Matt Jenkins in sprints/hillclimbs.

Regarded by some well known members of the MR2 community - e.g. see quotes on the site by Lauren or Matt - as the best handling MR2 they have driven e.g. "The best handling MK1 I've driven was Dave Hawkes (dgh) race car on Ledas, it felt so much more progressive and well balanced than any other MK1 I've been in." (LB - hope you don't mind me quoting this as it's already 'out there' but don't want to seem too cheeky - just desperate!) It has "steering to die for" (MJ) and incredibly sharp turn in and virtually no understeer.

A re-shell - and improvement - of Granville Williams ex-WRDC championship winning GT car. Weighs c. 850Kg (with more weight to come out - eg. if heater / dash etc. removed).

Fibreglass body beautifully made by Simon Gibson – NB. car comes with full set of moulds + 3 spares of all panels so buyer could sell/make new panels in any composite or build replica cars to recoup costs).

Seam welded shell by rally preparation experts PrepFab with weld in cage and additional triangulation front/rear impact bars (very strong and safe).

STACK dash, absolutely awesome Hi-Spec 310mm x 28mm 4 pot alloy calipers/brakes, 7" x 16" Speedline alloys with new Toyo Proxes + 4 new slicks.

LEDA coilover suspension by Michael Flounders of Tollbar Racing ( renowned suspension guru in ClassicF3, Formula Renault, Renault Spider Championship, Group C Challenge, Ginettas etc. now running Damon Hill and Tom Walkinshaws' sons in Ginettas) fully corner weighted etc. and then set-up by William Hill - Thundersports Champion – and Michael over 2 days at Donington in summer 2002 where it lapped in 1m 23 sec with an interim 145 BHP engine on Yoko 539 tyres!

With 165 BHP it lapped Spa in 1m51s with Eugene O'Brien driving - compare with historic sports racers etc. and you'll see that is a fantastic time for a road legal 1600cc car.

The car is in great condition, has just been refurbished + has cost over £35,000 to build so if anyone wants the ultimate track/road MR2 or a race car please contact me with fair offers either at 01629 826652, by PM or via e-mail: [email protected]

Thanks for the messages - of condolence as well as interest! - I haven't been able to suss out the photos requested but, as an afterthought, you can find pictures and more detail about the history and build of the car (and its predecessor, the Granville Williams GT racer) on this website:

http://web.mac.com/dghawkes

if it doesn't load (does on my Mac) please let me know and I'll try to sort it or could e-mail the pictures requested.

Thanks again . .

Jon . . really sorry but I've lost your number.

Would you like to call me back again as I've reconsidered and would now consider selling the moulds ( and maybe some of the panels, but I'd need to keep a set back with the car ) separately.

Sorry about the indecisivness and any hassle this has caused.

Best wishes

David

The package for sale is now altered at a suitably reduced price as the moulds are now sold and the panels advertised separately.

I am now looking at £3000 which is only the cost of the refurbishment! And 10% of the build price.

If anyone can find a road legal car of any make/ age as quick/ good handling as this for less I'd be amazed . .
